To me,the dead cat under the chair,the fiasko with the outside lights,and the squirrel terrorizing the entire household were all funny.
But when Quaid dumped his sewer in the storm drain?????
That was over the top.
What am I saying????
I am saying,if I were there,I would have led the parents and kiddos in an extra loud paraphrased rendition of "Santa Clause is coming to Town"
And encouraged them to wag their index finger in his face at the part; "HE KNOWS IF YOU'VE BEEN BAD OR GOOD SO BE GOOD FOR HEAVENS SAKE"

I was reading every reply to the thread from the beginning and only got to page 13/20 before I gave up.
There were bits about black and white and discussion about Jesus defending the adulterous woman being something grey.
It wasn't grey at all. The law says when a man and woman are caught committing adultery that they are both to be brought and accused by witnesses before the judges.
Firstly, they didn't have the accused male there. Secondly, none would say they had actually witnessed the act.
Black and white laws, they had not provided the proper evidence to condemn her.
Aside from the red letters showing the words that Jesus spoke and a couple of maps, my entire Bible is black and white, but you don't have to have a red letter edition. I have several with no color somewhere.

5 cars came into my body shop about 4 weeks ago.
I am swamped,but not complaining.
Airbags are the worst fix. Got one where the side curtains and seat airbags all deployed.
But 3 will not run.(security issues). I may break down and buy a scanner. (the airbag computer tells the ecm to prevent the thing from starting,so it disarms the starter,and fuel pump)

black and white thinking is the same as all or nothing thinking and it is related to the fight or flight response. It also is the common denominator thinking pattern in people who are depressed. Is God depressed? Polarizing thoughts are depressing...doesn't matter if they are couched in religion or not. Black and white thinking are like emotions tossed by the waves of the sea. Highs and lows.....blacks and whites.....the God of the bible is a measured God. His emotions are stable and his judgements are rational and just based on the circumstance...and on the hearts of men.
Parents lying to their kids destroys trust. If anything is abusive in this situation, its the parents lying to their children about Santa Claus.
I don't think I'd choose that approach, but I can't really fault him because he told them they were being lied to. But he could have mentioned that Nicolas was a real person. That part is not accurate. Santa Claus comes from the the Dutch for St. Nicolas, and the American commercialized version is an amalgamation of the English Father Christmas and Nicolas.
