The good news is that once the Republicans took control of Congress the first thing they did was retract their bogus January 6th hearing and conclusions and began a real investigation allowing both parties to select their committee members, releasing all the video, all the emails, and holding all the people like Pelosi and Schumer and the Sergeant at Arms and the celebrity cops and the FBI accountable. Just kidding. If they had done that there wouldn't even be a fig leaf for Jack Smith and all these indictments of Trump.

“Supposed to work” is key. But it doesn’t work that way. If the defendant has a bad lawyer, the defendant is in trouble deep. I’ve been on the witness stand many times over the last 25 years, and sometimes I just have speak up for the defendant even when I was the one who apprehended him (yes, it’s usually a guy).

Some people are complaining that one guy was given 20 years in prison when he wasn't even in Washington DC for January 6th while Ray Epps is given a slap on the wrist even though he "orchestrated the attack" (his words) and we have video tape evidence of him inciting the crowd to break the law and enter the capital building.
What you have to understand is the two people have very different crimes. The guy who got 20 years voted for Donald Trump and publicly supports Donald Trump. Ray Epps did not vote for him and does not support him. You see, Ray Epps is a good guy. The reason he was inciting the crowd was not to overthrow the government, it was to catch as many bad Trump supporters as you can with the claim of insurrection.
This is why the judge apologized to him saying if it wasn't for the radical extremists demanding Ray Epps be treated like an insurrectionist they never would have prosecuted him. This is why they let him had a Zoom call trial, so he could avoid the perp walk.
