Most of those Canons of Trent were an aimed refutation of Melancthon's 'Apology to the Augsburg Confession of Faith ' especially under the article of 'Justification'.
In turn Chemnitz dismantled Trent piece by piece in his 'Examination of the Council of Trent' four volumes.
Even Rome was impressed by Chemnitz's work.
