I just saw the commercial and i thought it was beautiful and amazing. The background song was great too.
I think it's great that Jesus is shown during a time when a lot of people are paying attention in an event like the superbowl.

As far as critics, i don't see anything of value or worth mentioning except the criticism of the contraceptives that the foundation of this ad was pushing. That's the only thing that has merit, everything else is just people who don't like religion or Jesus or Faith or Spirituality in general so nothing new or interesting there.

This is similar to the series The Chosen which has reached over a half a billion people now.
I'm glad that there are people who are doing these faith-based commercials and shows since a lot of people in the world are receptive and need them.

the money's not the issue, for me, anyway. how folks spend what God has given them is between them and God.

i didn't see them during the game, but i have seen 2 or 3. i haven't put enough thought into it to articulate why, but i am disturbed in spirit when i see one. somethin' ain't quite right, there.

At about the time I was saved, I watched the highly heretical Last Temptation of Christ.
As heretical as the movie was, it spurred me to seriously read the Scriptures.

The SB ads did a fantastic job of showing us how we are to treat people. Even people that engage in sinful behavior. The HUGE problem that ads make, is that not only do they present ONLY half the Gospel, not telling them WHY we all need Jesus, they give the definite impression that their SIN isn't the problem, rather the hateful Christians that tell them their sin is the problem, and the true reason they need Jesus in the first place! There is NO hint of "Go and sin no more".

But the Lord can use ANYTHING to bring people to the Truth of the FULL Gospel. So maybe some people will dust off their Bibles and actually read the Word.

Jesus washed the feet of his disciples not random people on the street. Jesus called people to repentance, not affirmation.

Much like The Chosen, part of the Hegelian dialect that permeates our world and through which many people and some Christians are being deceived.

This is not the real Jesus, but "Jesus" the ascended master of the New Age.

oh, this is helpful, thank you. i saw one that said Jesus was a refugee. well, not in the sense in which it was portrayed. the whole thing seemed rather "social gospel, social justice-ish" to me.

i dunno, @PennEd is right. Ed, remember Lynn? she went to a play of the awful Jesus Christ Superstar, and asked God to show her He's real. she woke up the next day a believer. God uses the most unlikely things to save His people.

we should pray these ads lead folks to a church and a Bible where they can learn the truth about the Lord, and be saved.

All I can say is, I personally, you may disagree, I cannot support the wrong message in hopes someone finds the real Jesus.

Why not get it right from the start especially in that this is supposed to be a Christian group?

i don't disagree. just sayin', since they're out there, prayer is needed. hope that makes sense.

Yes. I remember her, and her story.

And I'm sure neither her, nor myself, would ever advocate spreading a mixed message Gospel. But hers, mine, and countless other people can attest that simply hearing the Name of Jesus can and does have an effect that can lead to Salvation.

I know there are may be disagreements on how people interpret a show or a commercial but as a few members in this topic have said, all a person needs is a spark. Then the spark takes you in a journey. In the journey you grow.

It's not expected and doesn't make sense to try to get everything Biblically correct to a worldwide audience of unbelievers.
You just give them a spark.

Gideon, i know that we have our minds made up on certain things but i just wanted to say one thing to make you aware of your own journey.

How did you accumulate all your knowledge to know what's gospel or not? In one day? In one short commercial or a 5-minute encounter with your priest?
No, of course not and neither did I.

So don't be so critical for newcomers that they don't have your point of view and your knowledge now.
Let them go through their journey just like you and I did.
