When she was picked by the Obama admin to make the announcement about Benghazi simply read the "for the public" information sheet that the congressional members of the intelligence committee had received. It had been written and approved for dissemination by the National security bureaucracy (including the CIA and the NSA).
So what reaction do senator McCain and senator Lindsey have?
They accuse Susan Rice of hiding the facts or covering up Obama incompetency. These senators want to convene a "Watergate"style committee to investigate Susan Rice. While she is an Oxford university trained scholar, McCain wants to question her intelligence declaring she is either incompetent or unintelligent.
There was a time not so recently ago when I respected Senator McCain, he was a Vietnam prisoner of war and up until 2008 a moderate senator from Arizona who repeatedly crossed the aisle and made compromises with democratic senators. But something dreadful happened to him while he ran in the 2008 presidential campaign. he was exposed the virus of the Tea Party and has since not recovered. It was during that campaign when he corrected some ignorant voter who accused Obama of being some sort of stranger. McCain correctly advised that woman that Obama is just another freedom loving American who McCain disagreed with on issues of policy.
I can only speculate what happened behind the scenes after that event but he has not been the same since then. Some republican campaign advisers have told the public that is precisely the time when McCain began to fail as a presidential candidate. That is precisely the time after which he lost any sort of empathy for the average American and when the extreme right wing senator was born. And why he is now railing over Susan Rice. He guesses that she just might become our next secretary of State. He can put a hold on her nomination and prevent any vote on her from happening in the senate. This is not for the safety and benefit of the US but to assuage his own ego. This whole situation is not for any truth to come out but to sabotage a sitting US president.
