people are carriers

you have the bug, but you do not get symptoms

again, your knowledge in this area is quite lacking
The cdc says the flu is abrupt, it usually comes on suddenly...so if you have the flu you know.

They say its covid that you can have a killer virus without symptoms...

rapid onset of symptoms does not equal 'everyone who carries it has pronounced symptoms'

i can remember several instances where i had been out of town for work, come home, no symptoms, and within a day or two my wife, who had not so much as been out of the house to go to the grocery store, had zero contact with anyone outside of the house whatsoever, comes down with the flu.
clearly i picked up a virus, didn't have any noticeable symptoms, and my wife caught it from me.

in general her immune system is weaker than mine, from a variety of determinable internal & external causes.

let's live in reality, OK?

Thank you bro

people wh get vaccines should carry no symptoms if they get it., yet they can contract the big and be. Contagious, other people experience no symptoms, yet the are contagious

thats why they are called carriers.

No...but I’ve been alive awhile.

lol...if it usually happens that way then its the norm.

there are always exceptions, but in general, people with strong immune systems.
Then you don’t have the flu.

She got the flu after you...doesn’t mean she had the flu without symptoms.

really think you need to read that post again. slowly.
clearly i had the flu with no symptoms and she got it from me. this has happened at least 3 times over the last 4 years.

this demonstrates that people can carry and transmit the flu without themselves being symptomatic.

if we're not living in reality there's not a whole lot of point to trying to have discussions.

Ah...ok...I thought you had said you had the flu when you came home. I can’t say that I think you had the flu since with the flu you have a abrupt onset of symptoms.

it's not true that everyone who contracts the flu has symptoms.

you shouldn't go around repeating that. it's a lie.

i can be 100% sure i had the flu and was asymptomatic because my wife had zero contact with anyone other than me, and she got the flu. 3 times in the last 4 years, almost certainly many more times going back further in time. i used to travel a lot more than i do now.

I posted what the cdc says about it...if you have the flu there is a sudden onset of symptoms.

Flu Symptoms
Influenza (flu) can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Flu is different from a cold. Flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:

  • fever* or feeling feverish/chills
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • runny or stuffy nose
  • muscle or body aches
  • headaches
  • fatigue (tiredness)
  • some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.
*It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever.

Perhaps you had a virus and she already is predisposed to the flu?

Perhaps you had a virus

like, an influenza virus? yeah that's what i've been telling you.

this CDC study
https://academic.oup.com/cid/article/66/10/1511/4682599
and this one
https://books.google.com/books?hl=e...vXNdOisXlIrHqjmAZMZCgJD5Q#v=onepage&q&f=false

report that approximately 50% of the people who contract & carry & spread the flu never have symptoms.

this other study
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26133025/

found the number to be much higher -- 65% to 85% of people infected with influenza ((the flu)) don't present any symptoms.

@posthuman

Perhaps your wife had flu like symptoms and not the actual flu?
https://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/news/20200114/is-it-flu-or-flu-like-its-miserable-either-way

Also...you must have a healthy immune system to not get symptoms.
the 3 times i'm referring to, she went to our general practitioner, got diagnosed with flu, and received treatment.

in general i've always been healthier than her, less susceptible to illness and with less sever symptoms than her when i do come down with something. additionally i've got underlying health conditions for which, over the last 5 years, i've been taking a regular regimen of vitamins and medications that boost my immune system.

the same page says people usually have symptoms about 2 days after they contract the virus, but are contagious before the symptoms arise, and for as long as a week after the symptoms are gone.

it doesn't say everyone who carries the flu has symptoms. other links from the CDC that i posted above indicate that as many as 85% of people who have the flu remain asymptomatic.

because if i do get a respiratory illness, the other things going on with me could really exacerbate my condition.

a reality i've been living with for quite some time now is that i could die from something as simple as catching a cold.

so, you might guess, i take the covid thing seriously -- up to a point. i know that no matter what precautions i take i could still get it, and that it's ultimately in God's hands & all my days are determined by Him. i also know that anxiety worsens practically everything & i trust the One in whose hands my life is, completely. so i don't get freaked out; i'm not a germaphobe, but i obey the rules and laws the authorities put in place, which i ought to do anyway as a Christian -- and i try to be sensible & don't go around spreading misinformation about it or wondering if it's some kind of conspiracy dreamt up by high-bandwidth bats. if i act stupid about it i could literally die from my foolishness, and if i know God, He certainly isn't averse to chastising me when i've been an idiot.

here's what struck me -
if someone says that they HAVE had the Flu/virus with NO outward 'tells', =
then how can you say that you have actually HAD them???

well for example, someone who hasn't had any contact with anyone other than you, gets it and has symptoms :)

like you go out of town for 2 days, your wife hasn't been out of the house for a week or more, and then within a couple days of you coming home, she gets the flu with symptoms - confirmed diagnosis from her doctor.

3 times in the last 4 years, exactly that has happened in my family.
