where we live, 'gun-control' is a really big joke! just about every one that we know, carries, and have
multiple back-up,
old to young, except 'us', we do have a bb-gun for the 'tree rats',..believe it or not,
I'm still amazed as the people that I have known for decades, peaceful, loving,
caring, kind people, 'old and young, don't leave their houses without their 'physical armour'...
not judging them, but just amazed!!!, especially because of the ones who go to church,
every sun'day'...

Where do you live? Here in Iowa, I don't know of anyone who carries regularly, though some of my friends have permits. Iowa is a "shall issue" state.

Why isn't there marches for more better mental health care or diagnoses, when ever there's talk about violence and guns it is never a topic of mental health problems and violence, it's always guns and violence.
This march about gun control was merely an excuse. The Democrats and the Left-Liberals (including the MSM and Hollywood) are being fueled and funded by people who want to destroy the US Constitution, the rule of law, and the liberties guaranteed under the Constitution. IOW destroy America from within. They have been working on an anti-American agenda for quite a while, and one needs to see who is behind this nonsense. At the same time the few young people who are against gun control were shut down and shut out, which is an attack on free speech. So both the first and second amendments are under attack from the extreme Left in a major way. They want anarchy and Communism.

If you take the sword you will die by the sword (in other words if your Faith is in your weapons for protection you are in the sin of idolatry). Matthew 26:52

Coming very soon there will be no more weapons at all:

Isa. 2:4 - And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Speaking of spanking, these Leftist activist kids are getting a spanking on their college applications with negative results (including Hogg). And it seems that only 10% of the crowd in the march were teenagers. The rest were professional trouble-makers. This kind of activism has been going on since Ferguson. Perhaps earlier. And no doubt with cash being paid for activism which leaves garbage all around D.C. for others to clean up. The funny thing is that these activists did not ask the law enforcement personnel to leave their guns home while protecting them.

Anyone who thinks this is simply an uprising by angry high-schoolers is living in Pollyanna world.

This is a bald-faced manipulation of young, impressionable kids by the far left, socialistic/communistic machine, funded by George Soros and other wealthy liberals (Hollywood). Their agenda is the same one they've had all along. Crush any form of conservatism.. disarm the nation... let the federal government control everything, and severely punish anyone not toeing the "party line".

Socialism 101..... which usually degrades rapidly into communism.

These high school kids have NO idea what living under that kind of regime would be like. Unfortunately, neither do many of the adults involved.

it amazes me how many folks are in denial of what is being paraded in front of their eyes every day. we are being marched toward a socialist authoritative future , and folks better wake up to that reality!

I am concerned that if the politicians bow to the pressure being brought to bear, and pass some kind of ban/confiscation law, that there will be an armed uprising in our country.

After all the posturing and chest thumping by the leftists, that IS the reason for the 2nd amendment. To prevent our federal government from becoming a dictatorship, whether by one man, or an assembly of men.

If the people lose the means to defend themselves against tyranny, all the other rights guaranteed by the constitution are out the window.

Repeal the 2nd amendment? They are essentially saying repeal ALL the amendments! Without the one, there can be no guarantee of the others.

The American family has been in trouble since the 1970s. Can't blame that on Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama, or Trump. (I can blame it on LBJ, but that would take this to a different topic.)
Say whaaat? These people are EXPRESSLY to blame for the decline of the american family. The liberals dumbed down the nation into a population of ignornants, the conservatives took advantage of that ignorance to get people to vote against their own best interests, decimating the middle class.

When you live in ignorance and poverty, of course the family is going to suffer!

Now do try to be a lady in your over the top response to this.

The first thing we need is more extensive background checks
The Parkland students said no one was surprised to find out that Cruz was the shooter because they always knew something was not right with him. I'm told police were called to his house 26 times prior. He was even suspended once for bringing bullets to school. no way this guy should have been able to legally purchase a firearm.

Omar Mateen was a known radical islamist who even went to work talking about killing people and had no problem purchasing an AR-15

Remember the church shooter who wasn't even supposed to be able to legally purchase a firearm because he had been dishonorably discharged from the military?

The background checks are fine, it's everything before that , that is screwed. Dude should have been committed long before.

The only way to improve background checks is to somehow make it mandatory for mental health professionals to provide a list of people diagnosed with serious mental issues.

Now... just figure out how to do that, and not get sued into oblivion under HIPPA laws.

I have what I think is a good idea of how to do that, but it's not fool proof.

But, even with the instant background check, the "enforcers" of it have to enforce it strictly.

During the Clinton admin, they bragged that they had stopped hundreds of convicted felons from purchasing guns, through the instant background check.

The problem? How many of those felons were immediately arrested and sent back to prison? None.

So, you have a government with laws in place to help ensure that the "wrong" people cannot buy firearms, and does not enforce those laws. Not much of a deterrent, is it?

sure you can have a lot of gun laws and even ban guns, those folks with mental problems will go to schools with a bow and arrow with any means to cause harm.
Probably not a bow and arrow, but maybe homeade bombs?

I'm an avid Thomas Sowell reader. I wouldn't even evade the label "Sowellite" if someone were to stick me with it.

But I've never heard of the Thomas Sowell Foundation and this really doesn't read like his writing in the last few paragraphs.
