I may be wrong but we have not discussed the Bible at length in regard to this topic.

Here are some verses on the subject:

Bible law requires granting solace to refugees and strangers. As so many of you have said on this forum, the USA is a Christian nation. But how can Christians obey the Bible if the government is going to interfere with their efforts to do so? Several cities have declared that they will serve as sanctuary cities. But some on the far right (many of whom claim to be Christian) do not want them to exercise this legal right.

So what comes first - Trump or the Bible?
I think you should have a refugee living with you. Maybe a couple. Lead by example.

No mistake here on my part as Judge Richard Clifton is a Republican appointed by Bush. Was going to correct something else but it all appears moot as Trump is not going to appeal the appellate court's decision (at least to this point):

Trump won't immediately appeal travel ban halt to Supreme Court - CNNPolitics.com

Note again that the commentators are re-echoing something I wrote earlier: that Trump can still conceivably win his case without further legal actions if he just streamlines his executive order to make it more palatable to the Congressional intelligence committees.
Is there really such a thing?

A church I've been to only blocks from where I live has said it will serve as a sanctuary. It has a lot more room than my 1 room apartment.

By the way, since you are the forum's best Christian (I think) mebbe it's you who should set a good example and use your spacious home as a sanctuary as it is commanded in the Bible.

That is all well and good, but, lest we forget, the Bible ALSO SAYS to obey the Laws of Caesar for the Glory of God.....

We can not cherry pick Scripture to support a particular ideology.......we have to consider ALL of Scripture, and then determine what would be the best course of action (in my opinion).

A good reply.

If you look through some past posts and threads here you would see some complaints from forum right wingers that the church and religion are "under attack" from certain institutions such as the government, courts, liberals, Democrats, feminists, and, dare I say it, quite possibly from the likes of peacenik. Suddenly, all of this criticism appears to be muted now that Trump is in power.

Here in the Twin Cities there are churches that have signs indicating that they will serve as sanctuaries for refugees precisely as it is commanded in the Bible. In the past, churches which have defied the government such as JW's, Anabaptists, Catholic Workers, and others endured great hardships (we have a discussion about that on the Anabaptist thread).

I am very curious to see what position the right wing will take on the issue of government intrusion into church affairs when succor is granted by the churches to those refugees.
