A lot of people don't know this, so I'm posting it here. Donald Trump has been talking about how much he loves the Bible, but he belongs to the PCUSA which is the liberal wing of the Presbyterian church that rejects the inerrancy of scripture. Also, his father knew Norman Vincent Peale who authored The Power of Positive Thinking. Peale also performed Trump's first wedding.

Peale's theology was taken from the world of New Thought metaphysics which depersonalizes God, rejects the idea of original sin and the need to be born again. So when Trump talks about his faith, keep in mind that he's not talking about the same Christian faith that most Evangelicals hold.

True enough. At least his beliefs in "God' are openly unbiblical.

It spares us the usual process of testing the spirits if you will.

Really, I have no idea why the man touts his faith as much as he does. It makes very little political sense other than maybe baiting the other candidates into making stupid comments in reaction to his stupid comments.

It makes sense. I remember during an election season a few years ago when one of our senators (Conrad burns) showed up at church. I saw him from the stage and I remember thinking "you phony @&)&" lol. They only get religious when they needed votes. He lost to Jon tester.

I used to get a real chuckle when they would show Clinton coming out of church holding his Bible. You could tell it had just been taken out of the box the ribboon was pristine and still had a bend in it from just being taken out.

Have you ever read the bible that Thomas Jefferson wrote. It pretty much was the same bible except for all of the pesky miracles were excluded. Yet we hold him up as high as the heavens.

Jefferson was a genius, but he was often wrong and very vulnerable to intellectual fads.

If I had lived back then, I would have been a Federalist.

No doubt he was. I guess I was just trying to make the point that one of greatest minds in the history of the world wasn't the perfect Christian. Kind of ironic really that he was largely responsible for our nation and that going by what some here say....he would be unfit for the presidency based on the historical fact of his false theology.

True.

I kind of straddle the fence on that issue. Optimally, I would prefer a leader that can serve as a spiritual example for the rest of the country. A man who marches around walls with the Ark and Levites in front.

That isn't a requirement, however. If you want to know the measure of a political leader, I think the first thing to look for is their view on human nature. There are plenty of well-meaning evangelical Christians out there who have yet to fully grasp the implications of "Man is Fallen."

Is, I'm not sure if you are friend or foe . But in this instance, That is funny. It is. Very funny.

Obama has certainly made history in more ways than one. Painful it is. Like Carter. Just say the name. Kapow! Acid in the gut. A swelling of anger. A call to prayer.
