As fantastic as Trump's presser was, I wish he had hammered the specific point that for the very most part, THERE WAS NO INVESTIGATIVE reporter to go after the beyond incredibly damaging leaks from obama leftover intel people. Especially the phone calls with foreign heads of state.

Think about it. The acual contents of PRIVATE phone calls between the President of the United States, and leaders of foreign governments broadcast to the whole world!!!

How can this NOT be a scandal, resulting in mass imprisonment, of staggering proportions!!? And WHERE is the press on this?
The press is busy telling us how mean Trump was to them. They've got their hands full. ;)

I didn't watch the news conference. I am looking for results. When I see my children and grand children begin getting salary increases and/or better jobs, and my grand children who are entering the work force find good paying jobs, I'll call President Trump a successful president. Until then, I will pray that he succeeds.

I still prefer the little old lady down the road from my news. I get better news and the best weather reports from her than any other source. She also makes a mean cup of coffee and the best tea in the community.
I didn't watch the press conference for roughly the same reason, except hubby was watching it (with headphones on.) He burst out laughing when Trump said something like, "I did talk to President Putin after I was sworn in. I'd tell you what was said, but it's classified. So, you already have it." (For some reason the press corp didn't laugh.)

Then I had hubby turn up the sound.

Got to say something about Trump. He says what we're all thinking. lol

"TRUMP: He called me on the election -- I told you this -- and he called me on the inauguration, and a few days ago. We had a very good talk, especially the second one -- lasted for a pretty long period of time. I’m sure you probably get it because it was classified, so I’m sure everybody in this room perhaps has it."
That part had me laughing out loud (literally) too. The people in the room don't have much of a sense of humor apparently... but if Obama or Hillary said that about Wikileaks there would have been a 5 minute laughing intermission with a standing ovation. People don't have to love or like Trump, but he is a pretty funny dude.

I just finished watching it. I thought regarding that issue the thing that stood out the most was his comment about Hillary's low character in that why didn't she just do something about it, rather then accepting the info and using it to her unfair advantage.
But that's the dems for you, claiming the higher morale ground but really snakes in the grass.

I was at a church meeting yesterday and we were talking about prayer and how when we pray for people that have done us wrong or who we do not like, that we grow closer to them and more loving to them, even if it is just in our mind and outlook.
I commented funny, that has not happened to me with Obama.
I'm still laughing!
I doubt any of us anti-Obamas will ever get to like him.
Let's just try not to hate him.
He was a disaster.

CNN is fake news but Fox News is legitimate..... that's hilarious
What's hillarious is that you still don't get it.

In other words, CNN and the predominant leftist press is legitimate to you
BUT the only news that represent mostly the right, but give both views on interviews, is not legitimate.

I find it incredible that when I watch CNN, a 24 hour newscast program, I never hear the WHOLE STORY, but just part of it - the left part.

Americans are entitled to hear EVERYTHING and then make up their own mind.
Being open-minded, I'm sure you'll agree with me.

Honest question here, does anyone else think people in powerful positions do and say things to distract the press and the public from what's going on behind the scenes?

OK. He didn't mean it to be funny.
He was very serious.

The room full of reporters wasn't laughing because it was aimed at them.
They know very well that they're in collusion against him.

Yeah. It was pretty funny though.
It was classified, so everybody already know about it.
Especially if Hillary had a copy of it!!

Yes, I do. I'd be very surprised if they didn't.

Why did you title the Thread the way you did? Do you believe he RANTED? Hmm...........I actually watched all of it live and did not see the Ranting folks are talking about..........Silliness at times? Yup. Seriousness at times? Yup. Some truth and some exaggerations? Yup. But the one thing I did not see was Trump going on a rant.

From yesterday.

I did not see all of it, or even most of it. I will eventually watch it all. I bounced around watching bits and pieces.
But from what I saw, Trumps on a roll.

I said last summer, I want him to get elected for many reasons, but one of them was the entertainment value and his truthful out spokeness

Early on in the video he says he "inherited a mess, a mess".

That the press is "out of control."

The right has a big problem getting the press to say truthfully
what's going on IN FRONT of the scenes!!

I don't get why the press is such a problem. It's just checks and balances. People need to grow up and deal with it. If a person expects to get the truth and nothing but the truth from the press...and from the politicians...well...I've heard Santa needs a helping hand or two.

I don't like the way he handled the question from the Jewish reporter. In no way was that man accusing him of anything, but Trump does that. I didn't vote for him or Clinton. Honestly I think and pray him being the President helps the economy of the United States. I find him oddly entertaining. He actually in some ways reminds me of my Father, just in the way he talks. My Dad only had one wife, my Mom. When he says, we'll get that done and his straight forward attitude, that was my Dad. Let's all hope he does a good job.

Hey Susanna
What checks and balances are you talking about?

The press and media as a whole lean Heavily to the Left.

What are we supposed to check them against?
Do you think people know how to confirm whether or not a news story is true? Or biased?

No. The press has to begin reporting the News, and All of it, not just what they agree with.

Short history of media in America.

The first newspapers in the US were created for the strict purpose of getting their guy into office by mud-slinging the opponent. It continued like this to varying degrees until some caught on that other news sells too. (Homesteading efforts. Gold found in California. Fire in Chicago. Earthquake in San Francisco. Yukon Gold. etc.)

And then something weird happened after WWII. "Unbiased reporting." Newspapers, radio, and now that new thing called "television," really got into serious unbiased reporting, starting in 1945.

Meet the Baby Boomers. This is what we got for our news every day -- newspapers, radios, TV. Twenty years of that.

And then in 1965, Walter Cronkite gave his usual news report about the war in Viet Nam, and then did something different. After the report he gave his opinion.

No one turned him off. (We had grown to respect him because he was a straight shooter for the news, so no one was turned off when he took it personally.) Then the media caught something. People would accept a bit of opinion with their news. Except, they didn't actually tell us they were doing that.

I went to college in the mid 70's for Communications. Every single class for journalism taught "unbiased reporting." Giving a bias actually lowered our grades, so we got the point. Except for one detail. They were teaching what they were taught when they were in college, so they didn't catch on to the changes happening.

They didn't. I did. If you're taught to look at examples of articles in the newspaper for unbiased reporting, and the reporting is biased, it's noticeable.

It's more and more noticeable. I haven't seen an unbiased story for so long, if I had an example from a newspaper, it would be yellow by now.

But two folk singers from the 60's left us an example of unbiased reporting set to their own biased beliefs that lives on in posterity. (I don't fault them for doing it. I remember the times, and mass murders and that war in VietNam was new to my generation.)

Here's an example of what unbiased reporting used to be like.

We've gone to nothing-but-mud-slinging-even-without-a-candidate-to-promote now.

Figure out how the story slanted. Left? Then after reading it, look for the same story slanted Right. Figure out where both stories meet. That's the real story.

And, honestly? If someone can't figure out how to get their news, maybe they shouldn't vote either. There is no law on what the media has to do. Only law is it can't be controlled through the government.

Depleted,
Loved your post no. 56.
Which proves only one thing:

The more things change,
The more they remain the same.

And as to comparing -- yeah. I do this because I don't TRUST ANYBODY.

But how many do you think do? I also studied some journalism (not major).
Most people just sit back and listen to the leftist view. I sometimes wonder how there are
even any conservatives anymore!! I see less and less of it in the new generations. They're so
brainwashed in college.

Any ideas as to why our Professors are so socialist/communist??

That's not checks and balances.

Politicians are ONE THING.
The press is a DIFFERENT THING.

They don't check and balance each other.

Check and balance means there should be
5 channels on TV for the left, and
5 channels on TV for the right, then

a person could listen to both and make up their own mind.

Instead we have 9 channels for the left and
1 channel for the right.

So where is the checks and balances you speak of?
THERE ARE NONE!

So many become brainwashed by the left.

See?
