Do you expect president Donald Trump to be able to quickly fix such a long standing problem?

Well he said he was going to make USA great again.

In all fairness, he should be given a chance. Let's see what happens next.

I don't have the answer for that. One thing's for sure, the Republican caused Great Depression did not solve the problem.

I wasn't around then... how did the Republicans cause the stock market to crash?

I wasn't around in those days, either. ;) Lots of good books have been written in the subject. The historical consensus being that Republican insistence on unregulated business and stock exchanges being the primary cause. Interestingly, the farm belt suffered its own version of a Great Depression a few years earlier. After Democrat FDR took over, we have not had a Great Recession since then.

How strange! I distinctly remember the Great Recession of 2008, and how Canada weathered it so much better because we had conservative fiscal policies and the USA had, well, Obama!

It seems like I am not the only one who remembers, either!

Oh right! Then there was the big recession of 1982. House prices dropped so badly in Canada, that we bought our first home for a song!

Recession of 1981–82 - A detailed essay on an important event in the history of the Federal Reserve.

Oh, here is another one I remember! 1960!

ah, see your first sentence is the whole key to politics here in the states. according to the media and the liberals, ( one in the same actually ) we are not supposed to remember anything, we should just go with what they say, no questions asked,

Maybe it doesn't have that much to do with Democrats and Republicans, but about the people solving the problems. There are skillful people in both administrations. A lousy Democrat/Republican administration is worse than a good Democratic/Republican administration. Let's see in four years how Trump did. He can't be an idiot the way he outfoxed everyone through the primaries and the general election.

You may choke on your vitriol and lies. Has he reneged on his promise never to be in a bike race? Has he disapproved yet of water boarding? Has he already removed "Merry Christmas" from department stores? Taken back what he said about rebuilding the country's infrastructure? Said he will now increase the eighteen trillion in debt instead of reduce it? Decided to keep Obama Care as it is? Gosh, Dude, you have sunk pretty low. Pick yourself up, man.

correction: the Great Recession officially started under Republican Bush in 2007

Obama did not get into the White House until January 2009

Trump has backtracked on a few issues already. Who knows - eventually his supporters on this forum will soon be calling for his impeachment!

LOL!

Truly laughable considering Bill Jefferson Clinton was the second president of the United States to be impeached after a career rocked by scandal after scandal during which Hillary Rodham Clinton staunchly defended him to the end even though he was found guilty!

@ 1:48:22 "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

Such bald faced lies mark his and his wife's careers.

@ 1:48:42 article 2 section 4 = Treason, bribery, and other high
crimes and misdemeanors constitute grounds for impeachment.

Therefore on Dec 19, 1998 the US House of Representatives voted
on articles of impeachment against William Jefferson Clinton. He was
found guilty of providing perjurious, false, and misleading testimony
to the grand jury, and he prevented, obstructed, and impeded the
administration of justice.

@ 1:49:17 By direction of the house of representatives, and pursuant to
house resolution 614, I hereby deliver these articles of impeachment...

@ 1:49:33 ... while the House of Representatives is exhibiting to the senate of the United States articles of impeachment against William Jefferson Clinton, president of the United States.

William Jefferson Clinton by such conduct warrants impeachment and trial and removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.

@ 1:50:04 The evidence is overwhelming that Mr. Clinton has committed serious crimes against the people and government of the United States. Crimes such as:

-accepting bribes from such shady figures as the red Chinese military,
organized crime kingpins, and internationally wanted thieves in
exchange for US governmental support for their schemes.

-obstructing justice by withholding key evidence, encouraging others to lie under oath, and arranging for others to receive payoffs in exchange for their silence.

-aiding foreign powers considered to be enemies of the United States by giving them access to top secret information, restricted military armaments, and a safe haven on US soil, all in exchange for large campaign contributions.

Why would anyone think his wife Hillary Rodham Clinton would do anything
differently than she has over her husband's career? She has helped cover up
his corruption and worked hard to keep him in power while he was beset
by scandal after scandal.
