The "chance" he had was not of being healed,
his chance he had was of being a test bunny for the scientists.
and MAYBE have SOME symptoms relieved IF they found a way to fix it
(They currently don't)

It's so sad. It does not look as if he had much chance even if they had
tried treatment earlier.

Charlie Gard case explained - BBC News

What is nucleoside therapy?

The therapy is a treatment, not a cure. And it is highly experimental.
It has been used on some patients, but none with Charlie's type of MDDS.
There have not yet been any trials in mice to see if it would work in Charlie's
condition, which is caused by a mutation of a gene called RRM2B. The
faulty DNA means Charlie's cells cannot easily make energy to power his
muscles and brain.

GOSH did apply for ethical permission to attempt nucleoside therapy on Charlie.
By the time that decision was made, however, Charlie's condition had greatly
worsened and the view was that his brain damage was too severe and
irreversible for the treatment to help.

---

Unfortunately this case has brought out both the best and worst of people.
Best, as people have rallied around to raise money and support the parents.

The worst as many staff at the hospital, the parents themselves, and parents of
other sick children at the hospital, have received death threats. How sick is that.

The media across the globe has turned this tragic situation into a feeding frenzy and
its brought out all the loonies.

I can tell you without a doubt....if it was my son and the state ordered the machine to be turned off....I would be right there, wearing a level 4 vest, armed to the gills and would be in Marine lethal mode....our society is approving murder en masse dia abortion, assisted suicide and now state sanctioned death because THEY think it is not right to keep this little boy alive.....I fully admit that I do not know all the facts...but I also know I was told my son would not live 2 days by the "EXPERTS" and he will be 22 on Sept 1st.........!
If the government were telling me what to do, I'd probably do the same thing you would.

If my child were dead, I would not keep him out of heaven with a mechanical apparatus. If he were alive, I would see that he got all medical treatments available. In either case, it's my decision. Rest assured that my guidance would come from God, not some government bureaucrat.

The hospital had hoped Professor Hirano would be able to give Charlie's
family renewed optimism, but said it had listened to his evidence to the
court with "increasing surprise and disappointment".

"On 13 July he stated that not only had he not visited the hospital
to examine Charlie but in addition, he had not read Charlie's
contemporaneous medical records or viewed Charlie's brain imaging
or read all of the second opinions about Charlie's condition
(obtained from experts all of whom had taken the opportunity to examine
him and consider his records) or even read the Judge's decision made
on 11 April," the statement said.

"Further, GOSH was concerned to hear the professor state, for the first
time, whilst in the witness box, that he retains a financial interest in some
of the NBT compounds he proposed prescribing for Charlie.

"Devastatingly, the information obtained since 13 July gives no cause for
optimism.

Great Ormond Street hits out at US doctor over Charlie Gard

If true then it's pretty awful that a doctor gave them false hope, without
first reviewing the medical evidence.

You know what, pray, if this little lad is to be with the Lord, then so be it.
If he is to live, expect a miracle for God can do it.
