That's a new one - take a picture then steal it? We had a huge box of food stolen. They said they delivered it and they didn't. Either the person doing the delivery stole it or someone in our neighborhood, or someone driving around. I think it's going to get worse especially if the government checks stop.

Forgot to mention that since these are covid times a lot of ebay sellers who uses large retailers like Walmart and target as sources
for their items might have their normal shipping intercepted by postmates, doordash and Walmart sparkle or whatever those drivers are called. Those guys don't issue tracking numbers, they just show up and drop stuff off at your door and take a picture of it.

I dropship on Ebay as a hobby and i just recently had to refund someone with that issue but i didn't know how to refund them since Ebay just recently implemented and forced me to use their new payment management plan that moves funds directly into my bank account instead of Paypal. I tried to just use the ebay refund option on the site but it just kept pending lol, so finally i logged into Paypal to manually refund it there and it worked. The seller might have had this same issue.

a lot of things are now delayed cos of covid and wont be in till after christmas and online shopping wont actually get you them sooner.

I think just be prepared to wait. You can always get the store to order them and you can then go and collect them when they get in. Its much easier for a store to accept deliveries than you own address at times. A lot of couriers dont like delivering to peoples homes because many driveways cant handle anything bigger than a van and its not really worth their time to, and plus the person needs to be home to sign for it often. And finding someone on a property when theres so many other parcels to deliver in far flung places means a lot of couriers just take the short cut and would prefer to deposit everything at the post office for people to pick up themselves.

on a site like ebay often sellers have a pick up option. Buy local if you can.

My wife has a small business on Ebay and is quite familiar with the shipping aspect. She also buys on Ebay and never really had any issues with the seller, the post office, or the site itself. It is possible that the package in the OP was in fact stolen.
Yes, I've had more issues with the Post Office than I have Ebay.

I know everyone is buying Christmas presents but I want to warn you about eBay. I purchased something on there and paid for it but never received the item. I contacted eBay and they refused to refund my money. So be careful.
If you paid Ebay with credit card, I believe you can cancel the credit card transaction.
