Another thing....this notion that a person cannot change and rise to a calling is counterintuitive to me as far as how it relates to the the Gospel of Grace. Maybe Jesus has truly found Donald Trump and is calling him to serve. Who are we to limit what Jesus can do with ANYONE?

David committed adultery, lied about it and killed the ladies husband and then lied about that for crying out loud. We would be calling for his head if we were his subjects... judging from the knives that have come out against Trump here.

i might be inclined to take your david comparison more seriously if donald trump ever publicly says anything remotely like this...

"Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness;
According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity
And cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,
And my sin is ever before me.
Against You, You only, I have sinned
And done what is evil in Your sight,
So that You are justified when You speak
And blameless when You judge.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness,
Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.
Hide Your face from my sins
And blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners will be converted to You.

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation;
Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips,
That my mouth may declare Your praise.
For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

By Your favor do good to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices,
In burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar."

david's words of repentance in psalm 51 seem to be quite different from the attitude of donald trump who recently said he has never asked forgiveness from God...

Why does he have to say it publicly? What if he is saying it privately? Do you have a link where he said he has never asked for forgiveness?

david wrote his psalm for public performance even though his sin was private...should we settle for less from donald trump whose many wrongs were done in public?

In yet another controversial statement, the businessman admitted that he is not sure that he has ever asked God for forgiveness.

"I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so," Trump said, when asked by Luntz if he ever asked for forgiveness from God.

Trump, who has openly opposed same-sex marriage and abortion, said he just tries to correct his mistakes the best way he can.

"I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't," he said.

Thanks for the link. So are you saying that Trump can't be used by God? Maybe he isn't ready for the job..... was Moses ready for his calling?...or did he grow up along the way?

What do you base that on? From what you have seen on the tv or do you have personal knowledge of trumps private life?

Yes, God can use anyone even Donald Trump. Doesn't mean that Trump is like king David.

I'd say the fault in the analogy is likening the president servant to a king. In fact if Trump got elected president he would not be a king anymore. He'd be the servant to the kings. Would that make him Joab?

I'm really not saying that Donald Trump is King David. All I'm saying is that it doesn't really matter what human God decides to use.

Now, why is the GOP spending so much time on a man that clearly has some sort of link to the Clintons? To me it looks like the Republicans yet again drove the Elephant down without no help from nobody. For too long the GOP aint had no candidate being able of laying down the law...well, that goes for the Donkey as well....

I feel it, you're right on that part too, just being a little too witty for my own good.

I can see Rachel's point though too. Remember God also used the wicked kings too. Behold it is written in the Book of the Kings.

Just a correction to something in the OP I missed the first reading.

Canada has universal health care, which works very well. Everyone is covered. And in every province but BC, it is free. Here, it is about $85 a month for both my husband and me. Sometimes you have to wait to get into see specialists but the wait is worth it, knowing that everyone has equal access to health care.

It is our most highly rated value in every poll.

I know a woman in Georgia. She is unable to get health care for herself and her three kids. She is depressed and needs to see a doctor for medication. I don't know why she isn't covered by Obamacare, but she is one of many people who fall through the cracks.

I was in California in Laguna Breach 3 years ago. I was talking to an older couple, and they asked me about our health care. I told them and they said they wanted to move to Canada, because they had no medical coverage if they quit their jobs, and so they could not retire, and were in their late 60's.

And there is my American DIL She was 6 years without health care in the US, because she could not afford the $600 a month for insurance. She married my son, and was able to get coverage under him both in the US from his work, and now in Canada. She isn't even an immigrant, she just has temporary status.

I could go on and on. I'm just glad my taxes go to support health care for everyone, rather than exorbitant amount of tax payers money that is spent on the military in the US. Bigger than the next 9 countries in military spending.

And no, I don't like Trump at all. It seems like he plays fast and hard with money, including companies going into bankruptcy. Who wants a president that knows so much he drives the entire US economy into bankruptcy, like one of his companies? Next will be the US economy, which has been struggling for a while, from what I have read.

Trump? Yeah, Angela, you're right, he's gonna drive the entire country into bankruptcy and then he be buyin it for himself from the bankruptcy sale and from that moment on he'll be the CEO of America...and whos gonna FIRE him?

I don't about "working very well." Wait times for critical surgeries sometimes are lengthier than the prognosis gives the patient to live. That's why Canadians come to the U.S. for their cancer, liver, heart, and lung surgeries, not to mention neurosurgery, which Canada doesn't even like to pay for. Everyone may be covered, but their list of covered illnesses amounts to an impersonal "death squad."

You want to hear something disturbing? I missed it the first time I watched the "Meet The Press" video.

Trump: I Get My Military Advice from Watching Shows

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” when host Chuck Todd questioned Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump on his military positions, Trump said he watches television shows for military advice.

Todd asked, “Who do you talk to for military advice right now?”

Trump answered, “Well, I watch the shows. I mean, I really see a lot of great — you know, when you watch your show, and all of the other shows, and you have the generals, and you have certain people –.”

Todd continued, “But is there somebody, is there a go-to for you? Every presidential candidate has a go-to.”

Trump answered, “Probably there are two or three. I like Bolton. I think he’s a tough cookie, knows what he’s talking about. Jacobs is a good guy –.”

Todd asked, “You mean Ambassador Bolton? You mean Colonel Jack Jacobs?”

Trump confirmed saying, “Colonel Jack Jacobs is a good guy, and I see him on occasion.”
Look, I know we live in an era when technology is king, but seriously? You're asked "Who do you go to for military advise?" and your respond with "I watch the shows ... "?????

That's why over two thirds of the voters -- not just Republicans, but all voters -- says they'd never consider voting for him, I guess, because "he can win Iowa" and he can "win the nomination"? Is that right?

Trump down nine points after debate in new Rasmussen national poll

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Trump with 17% support among Likely Republican Primary Voters, down from 26% in late July before the first GOP debate. Senator Marco Rubio and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush are in second place with 10% support each, in a near tie with Fiorina and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker who both earn nine percent (9%) of the likely primary vote ...

Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and the candidate generally viewed as the winner of the B-level debate last Thursday evening, has jumped eight points from one percent (1%) support in the previous survey…

And then there was this a couple weeks ago ...

Hillary’s Favorability Numbers Sharply Drop in New Poll

Hillary Clinton‘s favorability numbers have dropped once again in the newest poll from NBC and The Wall Street Journal.

Tonight’s poll [PDF] shows Clinton with a 37 percent approval rating and a 48 percent disapproval rating. And while the approval is higher than the Republican presidential candidates’, so is the disapproval.

Meanwhile, the man topping the GOP presidential field––Donald Trump––has an approval rating of 27 percent and a disapproval rating of 56 percent.
He's more unpopular than she is, but Halperin says all the other GOP candidates think he's got them beat? What's he smokin'? Must be summa that "medicinal" wacky tobaccky that escapes outta Colorado every day!
