While the associations with "wokeism" do raise an eyebrow, the reasons given in the article make sense. However, I think they're making mountains out of molehills.

It's going to get a lot worse. They're just warmin' up. And they want to teach this CRT "religion" to children, and of course you're racist if you disagree. Pathetic!!
Welcome to Democrats Communist agenda. Like China, like the US. Like China, they lie, kill, steal, and destroy all who oppose them. Look what they did to president Trump for 4 years.

The first time I heard the phrase “social justice” I knew it for the hateful, Marxist, Anti American junk that it was and is.

So many good people were troubled that others were hurting, and wanted to do something about it. I get that. But we all should know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Equitable justice for all SHOULD be the goal of every human heart. There is no need to put “social” before justice. It is crystal clear that the intent of evil people all along was to divide and cause hatred, by punishing people because of their skin color, and destroying the nation.
The absolute ANTITHESIS of not only several Constitutional amendments, but of Dr King’s life dream of judging people by the content of their character, NOT the color of their skin.

“Social justice” by design, was ALWAYS going to devolve into the blatant hatred, and indoctrination that it is attempting to do today.

So I hope these plaintiffs not only win, but bankrupt the whole city, to deter this evil nationwide:

Oh my!
The big surprise is that the "Miss" is still being used. Too gender specific. Too exclusive of "non binaries".
Given 'em time. They'll change that too.

Yes. Mathematics is white supremacist. Perhaps that is because they imagine that only white people can spell mathematics or count past ten. A "Democrat" black woman says that the police should be de-funded. Sure, while she spends a fortune on private security. Everyone else has to look after themselves. Wild West anyone?

We are seeing this come to pass....
2 Thessalonians 2:
The Man of Lawlessness
…10and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. 11 For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie, 12in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.…

I don't know if this thread is referring to American children being taught about slavery and white privilege, but if is then I think that those things should definitely be taught. As a black person myself, I see white supremacy quite a bit in our society, and students should learn about their country's history no matter how dark it is. Here in Canada we learn about residential schools and how we stole the land from Indigenous peoples for almost all of our elementary and part of our junior high social studies. Yet, people are still able to be proud of their country. Learning about your country's past mistakes is power, and it makes sure that future generations don't make the same mistake. That true fact shouldn't be tainted with the controversial term "woke". It's simply a truth, at least in my opinion. God bless you all and lord of love to everyone on this thread.

no one has ever hid slavery and contrary to popular belief, that was not the impetus behind the civil war but it did become an issue later.

What led to the outbreak of the bloodiest conflict in the history of North America? (note this blue sentence is clickable to view the source of the following info)

A common explanation is that the Civil War was fought over the moral issue of slavery.

In fact, it was the economics of slavery and political control of that system that was central to the conflict.

A key issue was states' rights.

The Southern states wanted to assert their authority over the federal government so they could abolish federal laws they didn't support, especially laws interfering with the South's right to keep slaves and take them wherever they wished.

Another factor was territorial expansion.

The South wished to take slavery into the western territories, while the North was committed to keeping them open to white labor alone.

Meanwhile, the newly formed Republican party, whose members were strongly opposed to the westward expansion of slavery into new states, was gaining prominence.

The election of a Republican, Abraham Lincoln, as President in 1860 sealed the deal. His victory, without a single Southern electoral vote, was a clear signal to the Southern states that they had lost all influence.

Feeling excluded from the political system, they turned to the only alternative they believed was left to them: secession, a political decision that led directly to war.

As far as so called white privilege goes, teaching that white people are behind the problems of all folks who are not white, stating that white people will always come out ahead, is teaching hatred, bias and division like this country has never seen. I am not originally from the US, as as someone who probably has an opinion that is less involved, I see plenty of prejudice on the other side as well and have experienced it as a white person who never did a thing to anyone of color.

Stating all white people are evil etc, is geared towards hatred and suspicion among other things and teaching this to children will have results that most likely will eventually become physical altercations as has happened in the past.

Teaching that the US actually began in 1619 is an outright lie.

You say you are Canadian...well I am from Canada...born and raised and now residing in the US. Yes, I know about the residential schools and they are a terrible blight upon the country...but it was the Catholics that created system and did those things. Certainly not all Canadians and not Protestants.

I did note you say you are black and I honestly do not know where you think you see white privilege in Canada. One of my best friends in school growing up was black. I would be curious as to which province you grew up in that you say you have experienced so called white privilege.

I'm not saying that white people will never experience problems, but it's true that they'll have an edge over someone who's black or any race for that matter. I've seen it before, luckily it hasn't happened to me a lot but I've seen it. If you haven't seen it, I'm glad that you haven't but that doesn't mean that it isn't real. Just because some American states foughtagainst slavery, it doesn't mean that racism doesn't exist. Look at George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless numbers of black people who have been killed for doing nothing because they are black.
I can't change your mind, so believe what you want to, but the facts are there if only you'll look at them. I'm glad that in the house of God we are all equal.
Lots of love to you sister, and God bless you.

so what province did you grow up in? I would really like to know if you don't mind

take it easy with the racisim...Obama is the one that started all that again, which is pretty interesting since he is half black and plenty of white people voted for him

no, YOU look at George Floyd. sorry...but are you really familar with that story? he was a career criminal which does not absolve the policeman kneeling on his neck for so long, but how many facts do you really know?

Are you aware of the huge number of black on black crimes in the US? and the children killed by out of control black on black shootings? not sure how much you know about all of that up in Canada. I did not know really understand until I moved down here

and by the way, please do not assume that you or somone else cannot change my mind. that alone, is VERY prejudicial on your side

not fair at all. you don't know me so don't assume and I will extend the same favor

NO ONE has been killed for nothing just because they were black in quite a few years. granted that has happened in the past and I have learned some very heartbreaking things....but that story has changed and saying it over and over does not make it so

one more thing and just to point out to you that it seems you are not really listening here...I pointed out to you that slavery was NOT the main issue regarding the civil war and yet you say this: "Just because some American states fought against slavery, it doesn't mean that racism doesn't exist."

are you aware that it is actually the Democrat party that wanted slavery and fought to keep it and NOT the Republicans?

The KKK were Democrats...not the Republicans...Biden himself was all about segregation going back...and yet now, with all the lies and those who want to change historical facts, you would think the Republicans were the big bad segregationists when all along it has been the Democrats

so please, don't give me cliche responses and again, I would like to know which province you grew up in. thanks

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be prejudicial towards you. I was trying to be respectful that you have your own opinion on the matter, I'm apologize that that came off as prejudicial. I actually am aware that Democrats were a very racist party in the past, I don't dispute that at all, but I wasn't defending them. I'm simply saying that racism is real, and so is white privilege. Please don't use George Floyd's past as any justification for his death. His past is irrelevant to the fact that he didn't do anything to deserve being suffocated to death. As I said, believe what you'd like, I'm not trying to change your opinion, I just wanted to state the facts. Black on black crime happens, yes, but that doesn't have anything to do with racism. That doesn't excuse racism. Racism is racism. What about Breonna Taylor? She was shot while she was sleeping. Is that not racism in its truest form? Are you trying to tell me that it doesn't exist, and that every racist experience that any black person has ever encountered is false? The province that I grew up in has nothing to do with the racism that I may encounter there. The fact is that racism happens all over the world, even in Canada. Just look at how they treat Indigenous people. It's a sad fact, but a true fact, and I can't wait to go to heaven where these type of things won't exist anymore.
Lots of love to you sister, and have a blessed day.

well you are wrong if you think the province you grew up has nothing to do with your experience

I don't think you are actually replying to my post, so that's fine

you said to me you were not going to change my opinion..which is actually fact based...and I asked you not to assume things

at this point, I will simply state it seems to me that it is actually you that is going to continue in your opinion

sorry that is how you view things. best not to continue in 'victim hood' which is just what BLM and CRT is all about down here...that and learning how to hate weight people and blaming them for all your problems if you are a person of color I would no

I see it has crossed the border as well. it seems you are originally from England so I guess that is why you cannot tell me what province you grew up in. you might have mentioned that instead of saying it doesn't matter. as a Canadian, I can tell you it DOES matter. I would not assume to tell you how thing are in England

don't compare Canada to England. that is annoying to say the least
