Scary times....I don't have much to compare. The only person I know first hand is someone I went to HS with, she's now a nurse in a LTC facility but works in administration, with staffing shortages and everything she had to start working the floor and she contracted it...in her fifties like me. The messages on facebook painted a grim picture, "Sue is battling covid" that kind of thing....I was relieved to see that she's actually not in hosptial, but rather is in a motel recovering...there are apparently others from her LTC who are also in the same motel recovering, separate rooms.

The language of Covid-19 is different from anything we've ever seen.....I've been knocked on my backside a couple of times from the flu, but I doubt anyone has ever said "he's in a battle with the flu"....more often its "he's home sick with the flu". Of course the is not novel and wouldn't require me to be isolated somewhere.

PhD not MD. SO not much of a qualification and doesn't make him a credible expert.
