I guess California is seeking to make them illegal, now that they are on the streets. Of course, perfect, the nanny state! But, truly, I would rather live in a place where these crazy “guns” are illegal, seeing as the supposed zombie Apocalypse is not bound to happen soon.

I guess California is seeking to make them illegal, now that they are on the streets. Of course, perfect, the nanny state! But, truly, I would rather live in a place where these crazy “guns” are illegal, seeing as the supposed zombie Apocalypse is not bound to happen soon.
Most of the "zombie" stuff is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the unwashed hordes that will be present during the anarchy following some type of "end of the world" event. It's even been acronymed to TEOTWAWKI.... (the end of the world as we know it) .
That is the event that all the preppers are, well, prepping for. The assumption is, that following an EMP event, or some other national/worldwide cataclysm, the prepared folks will be assaulted by the un-prepared folks who need food, etc....
"Zombies" are just the cutsie name for the folks that will be trying to prey on the prepared folks. It is a lot more palatable to the public when you talk about the proper weapons, or ammunition, or tactics for protecting yourself against zombies, than to talk about what is the best ammunition for killing the unprepared humans that will be trying to kill you and take your food.
There are even forums for those prepping for the Zombie Apocalypse. Ask me how I know.....

Interesting comment about a civil war. From outside, and from someone who has lived in the US and has family there, the US is more polarized than I have ever seen it. True, there were Vietnam War protests, riots in ghettos, Watergate and other divisive things going on in the past, but not like now.
I see people on both sides of the political spectrum hating each other, calling names and spying on each other. I see races dividing, people harming each other. I see workers taking sides. A close friend unfriended me on FB when I suggested Hilary would not be a good president. I’m not even American. I had to turn off the feeds from a number of people, who went berserk when Trump won! They were still raving about recounts, winning the popular vote and impeachment last time I checked.
I’ve known those people for years and they just changed, overnight. Or, maybe while their party was in power, life was fine, but the change in power happened, they showed their true colours? Rich and poor, young and old, so many divisions! By class, colour and creed! The US, and by extension, Canada and maybe the Western World are facing some deep dividing lines.
