I know their lost, led astray
Hurting words, in all they say
They pierce my ears, sharp like a knife
Unknowing deeds, within their life
They curse your name, in how they live
I say I love you, and I forgive
In my sin, you washed me clean
A love so bright, I've never seen
Do as you did, words that you speak
Not to argue, and turn my cheek
Forgive my detour, and those that hurt me
Feed the hungry, water to those who are thirsty
I try so hard to do these things
Because of you, what joy it brings
There is one problem that I face
Where forgiveness has not found a place
It's a disease , plague or infection
I can see it in my own reflection
The lord has forgiven me, with a love that's pure
Why can't I forgive myself, like there is no cure
Satan brings up my past
He tries to make a memory last
My sins to him are west to east
But can't I have the peace
For in my mind there is some haunts
Satan laughs and then he taunts
Why do thoughts have to remain
I only loose for him to gain
To the lord I run and hide
Please lord push these thoughts aside
You forgave when I cried your name
Please help me lord to do the same
Sometimes Satan pulls up our past, sometimes he tried to put things in minds that can cause us to loose sight of the Lord's love and forgiveness. The lord promises that we are forgiven, fore there are still things I have not let go. As much as I try to, I pray the lord will bring me victory on being able to let these go and give him my full attention. There's no need to dwell on the past, we are the ones who suffer while Satan laughs. I'm not sure if you sometimes go through this but if so we need to remember to trust the lord. He promises that we are forgiven and if he forgives us then we also must forgive ourselves and not let Satan taunt us.
