It feels like I haven't written a poem in ages... or posted any anywhere for critique or sharing. Take it easy on me! :)

Let us put down those affections from our hearts
for it was insurrection from the start-
subordinates rising from the ash
but no claim to the rightness of it.

Our lives were mortal now they live onwards
within each other, there, constant morsels.
Far from home we wander
the vapors carry us further.

What deepens this wound?
The school yard rules being ignored.
The school master calls to us for resurrection
within ourselves but what dots
the line for inspection in our eyes?
Is it the tilting fall we are used to,
or the acceptance that we are graceless?

Either is proper in our book
but what shall be claimed on the judgement day
if we cannot climb out of the gutters’ dirt?
No one wants to stand alone, it’s true
but I have not gained this affection from you.

It was taken and taken again-
not forceful but not willing.
It was the people we were once
that caused us to lay here.

And I forget to wake sometimes
though this will not be my last endeavour
of falling in that graceless, tilting way.
