I ran across this the other day and I thought I would post it.

Growing up in a large family of 10 kids…My parents had a tradition of having oyster stew on Christmas Eve that was mandatory for everyone before we could open gifts.

My mom said it was a German tradition …. However, years later when I asked my grandma (who came from Germany) she said she never heard of it. So, it was probably a means of getting back at us….(not me, but the other kids …I was perfect.)

My mom was a great cook, but that stew was **** …. The smell would gag a maggot and the taste sent you into gag reflex spasms that lasted for days …maybe years.

“The night before Christmas” was about one of the wonder years (I wonder how I survived). With a table that accommodated 14 you could get away with a few more things.

It is in PDF
