The way that I was

I cannot accept
"It's what I've become"
It's not to be kept
And given a home

The future can be
More spotless within
If I set it free
And take it to Him

And whether I'd like
To keep it or not
Oh God, please get rid
Of each stain and spot

And make me this thing:
The "me" in Your will
With good that You'll bring
And bad that You'll kill

And now I'm at peace
And finally see
That I am released
It's taken from me

In keeping with what
You say in Your word
I can say,
By Your grace,
That's the way that I was.​
