This poem kind of looks like it's about a guy, but it's not. It's a little more metaphorical than that.
To Have and to Hold

To Have and to Hold

After this long
internal fight
I knew that time
would shed its light
from now until
that time had come
I lay there hurt
and so alone
During the day
the sights and sounds
kept it away
or at least down
the nights then seemed
longer than most
with time to think
and become lost
In the middle
of one dark night
I reached slowly
out to my right
to grasp a hand
that was not there
I held on tight
to still, thin air
All that I have
all that I hold
it makes me brave
it makes me bold
I do not need
these seas to still
I need to be
within His will
I seem to hold
nothing at all
I seem to have
just these four walls
and yet, somehow
there's everything
because He's here
my Lord, my King
All that I have
is all I'll hold
when in my grave
I lie there cold
I try my best
to understand
just what I hold
within my hand...
