Silence.....
Focused....
A quiet mind with an open heart. Focusing on you and your holiness. As thoughts of life drift in, am I going where you want me to go? You are by my side, you have placed your path at my feet, for you are my lord, you are beside me. When I start to drift, letting my feet start to wonder, your voice guides me back. Back to you and back to your open arms. Satan hides in the hedges placing stumbling blocks and traps on the path. At times my feet may stumble, at times I have fallen but your mercy stands me up, your grace dusts me off, your love bandages my wounds. Your voice, I hear it in your holy book, as if a map, leading me. Satan tries to remind me of the old man, you remind me that he is dead. Remember when you did this, remember when you said that, and don't forget the thoughts you think of.....but you say I am forgiven, you say it is forgotten. I hear you. He is a pest, he is liar, he is a deceiver and I become my worst enemy but you..... You say that you love me, you speak truth, you say to turn away and Satan is defeated. I hear you. Because of you because of your love because of your truth, the man that once was is no longer. I am weak but you make me stronger. Although I may slip, you are there to stand me up. Lord why is there a rope around my foot and the other end in Satan's hands? I can't cut this rope, lord only you can. It causes a wedge, it makes a wall, he pulls me down, he makes me fall. Yet I can only blame myself, I bite the apple. Please cut the rope. I hear you, please tell me how to cut this rope. I don't want Satan to see my eyes, but hear me repent and see my backside. To turn away once and for all. Please tell me how, I will hear you.
When I say this, I'm sure I'm not the only one. Satan can remind us of our old selves. He can throw things in our face, things we had forgotten about or things to just try to get our minds distracted. I still have a rope around my foot or a sin in my life that causes a wedge or a wall between the lord and I. An old habit has resurfaced.... smoking. I am ashamed to admit it but it's true. I need the lord's help because I can't let it go on my own. It is a giant that has been in my life since I was 14, I am now 35. Please pray for me. I need the lord's help, to help show me how to be done with this sin. Thank you for reading I pray you enjoyed it. If you have a rope too, I pray that the lord will guide you to victory. God bless
