I'm not singling anyone out here (sorry had to make that pun). But there are a plethora of threads about this, and it seems that some of the more broken among us have formed cliques where they love to hear each other talk about rejection and failure. This is not healthy, and it is not edifying to your brothers and sisters in Christ.
All the broken on CC could do well to remind themselves that we are approaching a day when we all proclaim that unto us Christ was born. There is controversy over the date, but there should not be controversy over the message.
I am left to wonder if those who continue to rail against the evil men and women that have enslaved their hearts through unrequited love have not considered that the only power someone else has over them is the power that they themselves have given them. The opposite sex is not to be feared, and in fact, God has a lot to say about fear.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Some translations say a spirit of discipline, others judgment.
Now it's time to ask yourself, is someone who focuses solely on rejection disciplined, with proper judgment, and a sound mind? I would say the answer is no, they are afraid.
That person has placed a yes or no answer given by another human being on a pedestal, and created a false idol. There are very few things which we are to fear, and rejection is not one of them.
Psalm 27
27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Do you think that Stephen (pictured there), a martyr for Christ, really cared about whether or not he was single at that moment in his life? No, he most certainly did not. Instead, he had done as Paul said. He had run the race.
Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
So, the next time you find yourself complaining about being single, remember you are the one that gives someone power if they spurn your advances. Shake the dust off and just go forwards.
