I love that BarlowGirl song. Not sure if you've seen the music video, but it's quite good too. It shows how sometimes when we struggle/fight, we make things worse. But when we have peace, we are let go from our restraints.

Great post, ServantStrike! :)

Could, in certain situations, singleness not be a curse, but a blessing ?

I've experienced " dating " and the last time I dated was several years ago,
and all I reaped was tears and a broken heart :(
( yes, amazing ! Men have feelings too and they can even cry sometimes ! ).

Needless to say that I hate to death that concept of " dating " ! " dating " is great, isn't it ?
There's no structure, no clear boundaries,
everybody is their own God,
and the word " friend " can have a double meaning in the world of " dating ":
A- you are her lover
B- you have been " friendzoned "

So how can you tell the difference if there's no difference ? Doesn't make any sense !

Unless a miracle happens and proves me otherwise about my current perception of " dating "
( in which I completely doubt ),

I'll stick with my scriptural ideal of courting in the future,

or I would be celibate for life just like my buddy the apostle Paul did !

( I seriously doubt I would be able to be celibate for life though, as I'm a woman's beauty lover  )

I have, I didn't post it because I didn't want anyone to latch on and say "see, those girls are too pretty, they would friend zone me."

I'm not singling anyone out here (sorry had to make that pun). But there are a plethora of threads about this, and it seems that some of the more broken among us have formed cliques where they love to hear each other talk about rejection and failure. This is not healthy, and it is not edifying to your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Yep, pretty much, and ironically it's usually the ones who say they don't like drama.

but if sex is a thing that is constantly on your mind, then it can be a curse.

Woah...there is a difference between being desperate for someone to sleep with you and yearning for a lifelong partner...there is a big difference.

Yeah...

They can have one sad song played on the violin one time. After that time to move on.

Me, my sad song must be played on a carbon fiber violin.

Give it time and the Holy Spirit. Sex will become a lot less important to you. That's a promise.

And as long as sex is that all consuming, rejoice in your singleness. We should go into a relationship as a spiritually complete package, one who is no longer a slave to the flesh.

Woah...there is a difference between being desperate for someone to sleep with you and yearning for a lifelong partner...there is a big difference.
And there is nothing wrong with wanting a spouse. I want a spouse some day.

But if it becomes an obsession, then it's time to step back and consider just how spiritually unhealthy obsessions are. And how whatever we obsess over becomes an idol.

The people who obsess over finding a mate commit too quickly to the wrong person, time and time again. Also, please note that I'm not accusing you of this sister.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to ServantStrike again."

I love that your Reality Check sign looks like someone has been shootin' at it :D

I was aiming for a reality check. I'm glad someone was even more proactive about it!

[h=1]“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” [/h]
I wouldn't generally get my spiritual views from Dune, but that quote is awesome.

Good thread.

In 2 Corinthians 7:7 Paul considered his singleness a gift, not a curse:

I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.

Gifts of God are holy. We have to be careful about calling what God has called holy (or clean) unclean. (Act 10:17)

Things that ARE curses - Bitterness and Unforgiveness. They are toxic:

Romans 3: [SUP]13 [/SUP]“Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”
[SUP]14 [/SUP] “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
[SUP]15 [/SUP]“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] ruin and misery mark their ways,
[SUP]17 [/SUP]and the way of peace they do not know.”
[SUP]18 [/SUP] “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

John 20:23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."

Matthew 6:14-15 "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. "But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

James 2:12-13 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

Matthew 5:23-24 "Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.

Mark 11: 25-26 "Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.

I think StillWaters had a point. Were all complaining about being single, so we should just date the people we find here..

ALRIGHT....... Who wants to run away with me?!

I would run away with you Nod, by my running shoes are in the shop.

How about I "power walk" away with you? That way we won't get very far, so if I change my mind it wouldn't take too long for me to get back home!!!
