In this portion of Luke 5:5, we see the power behind the word of God being manifested.
Peter and Co laboured all night, night time being the ideal time (according to man) to catch fish, but caught nothing.
It is not like they were not hardworking, nothing to do with experienced, these were expert fishers, not like they had no faith. All these put in place they caught nothing. Then in the morning, as they prepared to leave, they met Jesus, who after using their net to preach (God first), told them to cast their net! And when they did; wow! what a catch.
Simon Peter said something very important ''at your word''. Have you been labouring, are you an expert in your field, have you fasted and prayed, did you have faith, have confessed known & unknown sins, yet nothing seems to happen? Did you seek God's face, did you hear Him say''cast your net''? What is His Will concerning what you are toiling and labouring for day and night with little or no results? Seek God's face. He says my sheep heareth my voice (John 10:27), this means God speaks beloved.
David, the man after Gods heart will always say ''Lord should I go''? If I go will I overtake? (1sam 30:8)
Jesus prayed concerning His life ''Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless
not my will,
but thine, be
done'' (Luke 22:42). He didn't end there, when God answered Him, He accepted to die according to the will of the Father for Him. We do not only accept Gods will for us when they are favourable, we do whatever His will may be
Praise God!
