The first man had two components, viz.:
  1. Moist soil from the ground and
  2. A breath of "life-giving Spirit", a.k.a., the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, making of "a suitable companion to help him" could not apply a completely different pattern. The image of God, i.e., the Spirit, the first man and woman shared in common bonded them into one indivisible body sustained through "the tree of life" (Gen. 2: 7-25).

That is very profound. It never occured to me that Adam and Eve were truly two beings of the same body and therefore truly are "one flesh". That blows my mind. It means that the human race is also one flesh since we are all descendants of Adam and Eve. I can't even begin to think of the implications of this, but I find it fascinating. Thank you!
