I play harmonica now, gave up guitar...favorite harmonica song is qoutes from psalms....
The Lord is good, His mercy endureth forever and ever to all generations
So I will stand up, and sing praise! halleluih! for I know the Lord is good!
He reached down and He touched me when I was so low,
I couldn't get up, or go down any farther
My sins, which were many, He forgave and forgot them so I know the Lord is good!
I sing it with a cry in my voice and have to fight back tears. It's a modern spiritual, but it's not CCM.
Strong in doctrine, focus is on the message and not on the music. Mostly I prefer the old hymns, the ones that have stood the test of time and have been around for many decades if not centuries. CCM has opened a lot of doors for compromise and heresy to grow, and now we have cultish things like Acts 29 network and the Emerging Church, 119 ministries....these things pop up thanks to weakness in doctrine and compromise of holiness. The mercies of the Lord are new every morning, not old fashioned. Modern culturally friendly Christianity is nothing new, going with the flow of the world and it started when Cain was thinking he could make his own way to please the lord with an inferior sacrifice that made him jealous to murder Abel.
