That depends on what kind of maturity you mean. You brain is not mature until almost age 50, so I have been told. i had numerous changes in my perceptual abilities at right around that age, and this have stayed stable since. Sexual maturity I can never quite remember who is first, but it is quite a bit younger. There are all sorts of opinions, depending on how these various bits of data are averaged out.

Complete junk. If you are not a man by the time you are 21, you don't have your priorities straight.

It is certainly secular thinking, and why age 21? is that the age you become a man?

Looks like some senseless nonsense with a feminist influence.

I didn't bother to look up the study this was based on, but it seems like the findings aren't worth much, not for the point the article is making. Men scoring lower on self-reported surveys about how mature they feel they are than women doesn't say anything about them being mature. Maybe women think more highly of their own maturity, or just feel like they are getting old faster than men do.

I arbitrarily picked an age in (what should be) early adulthood.

Studies like the one you posted seem to be an excuse to me.

"Men can never be mature, that's why they always need women to help them mature"

I often read about this quote in some magazines and often hear it from people :D

18... 21... 25... 43... 50...

Good grief! With these kinds of numbers, you'd think we never grew up or became mature!

Though I might agree with a few items on the list, who decided what was and wasn't mature, or at what age? Some of the things there were childish or otherwise 'foolish', but what's wrong with eating late if you have to, or playing your music loud sometimes? What's wrong with having a little competitiveness *coming from a guy with almost none*, or choosing to remain silent?

No offense, but I believe some level of liberal woman (and possibly urban man) must have written that article in a media magazine. No offense, but I don't live my life based on what the media tells me. It baffles me, however, that people try to individually define things, and get others to accept their definition. I mean, it's more childish to argue, not eat, or be self-absorbed. *sighs*

Anyway, not a rant, just some baffled comments. What will they come up with next?

The frontal lobe isn't fully done developing until around 25. The frontal lobe is where the emotions live and the ability to predict the consequences of your actions with any sort of accuracy. Now, what stunts maturity is psychological trauma.

I'm not going to say any more about it because some of the contributors to this thread are going to tell me I'm wrong anyway. Or I'm a feminist, or neurology is bunk science, or all my medical classes have "taught me nonsense", or whatever. :D So! Have fun, y'all!
