Re: So complicated.

This will probably sound awful here, just as it has to other people I have spoken to about this. I know I don't owe anyone any explanation, but ...

I admit that there are people out there who have a "je ne sais quoi" about them ─ an inexplicable allure. That being said, I'm not saying that I think it's impossible for me to be drawn to people who have that because it literally can happen to almost anyone on the planet. What I am saying is that it's highly unlikely that anyone wanting to date me, or me wanting to date another person, will ever go anywhere, so I normally refuse to even think about dating. People may, at some point, capture my interest, but in the end, for some mysterious reason, all people end up feeling, looking, and acting the exact same way, in my eyes. Hopefully that doesn't mean I'm being closed-minded. It's an experience that I find hard to explain or relate to with others. Often, I find it hard to relate to others. Maybe that's the reason? Hmm.

Nope, I don't date. Don't want to. Think I'm going to stick with what makes me happy and enjoy the company of cats. ♥
Wow... I actually feel the same way! Never heard it put into words before.

:) I take that as a compliment. Thank you.

You know, I have been thinking about this.... It occurred to make that it makes sense to get married and have children for the sake of raising more Christians to be in this world. Love wouldn't be a part of the picture, for me, but the idea of doing this solely for that purpose makes a lot of sense. Doesn't mean that I'd fall in love with someone because I don't think I can or will fall in love with someone. Touch isn't all that enjoyable to me either, but if it serves the purpose of making a family that's centered around Christ, then I see it as a very noble way to live. This (seems) to be the reason that it's looked upon favorably for people to get married and have a family. There was a video I saw on YouTube where a man claimed that most Christians are actually called to marriage, though few are not. Not sure if I agree with his viewpoint, but because he explained the purpose of having people multiply in this world in order to spread the Word of God and the salvation of Jesus, I can start to see where he is coming from.

Just a thought. Aside from this, I'm fairly confident that I'm going to be a cat lady. No complaints. ♥

If marriage is a mirror of love of Christ for the church, then marriage for the sake of tolerating things you hate in order to spread your beliefs, much like a virus would, is a wrong view. How can you teach your own children the love of God when your own marriage and family would lack the love intended in marriage? Marriage is not meant to spawn mini-preachers. It is a covenant between a man, woman and God that the two will love one another. Taking marriage as a loveless spawning ground where two people tolerate each other isn't biblical nor is it in agreement with the nature and character of God.

I must be called to singleness, then.

Is there an exception to romantic love in a partnership? What if you didn't feel romantic love for them, but maybe a sense of responsibility or fulfillment? Hmm. Not sure what to think about this one.

There's also this idea that you can learn to love someone if you just marry them and start a family. No idea how true that is. Do I believe it? I don't know. (shrugs)

Pretty sure I'm called to singleness.

I would love to find love, but it's hard enough getting someone to have coffee with me, let alone anything more. I'm beginning to think maybe I'm meant to be single.
