The waiting game is maddening. God's timing! I guess we are all waiting for something.

I finished reading the Lady in Waiting book.

No I would never want to be a lady in waiting after reading what she had been through. Two grown sons dying, one of AIDS and one of side effects of heroin addiction a husband who didnt care for her and took her help for granted, 3 different estates and moving all the time. She got on with it but thats only cos aristocrats have this cushy insurance policy which is their wealth. They actually might not have any money at all, having spent it, or squandered it but she had the title to some land and thats what mattered.

asked why her husband married her and not anyone else, his response was 'you're the only one who would put up with me'. hmm. a less stoic person with no stiff upper lip wouldnt have.

This was a lady who went to church every sunday, but her son wanted to be a buddhist. Im not really getting my head round that, but back in those days if you were an aristoctatic wife it meant you had to look after your husband who was the child, and get nannies to look after your children. Grown men arent easy to look after when they have tantrums. Even if your husband was ten to twenty years older, your duty was to look after him like his mother. And she was writing, everyone in her circle had more than one partner in their marriage. It was so common it wasnt even remarked on.

I think muslims are at least being honest about having more than one wife. I suppose that allows them to be faithful and infidel at the same time?!

I met a lady who was married for the very first time in her seventies!!
As a baby her single mother was unable to care for her so dropped her off at the front door of a nun's convent. They took her in and cared for her. She became a nun herself caring for pregnant teenage girls. When she was in her sixties, the nun's told her that she needed to retire so she did and went out into the real world.
The nuns were able to trace her niece as she had no other family. Luckily so the niece helped her to find a place to live. The house she purchased was next door to an elderly man of a similar age. He was widowed and was terribly lonely. Well the two of them got along really well and ended up marrying a couple of years later. He was slightly older than her. The two of them were married for a few years before he passed on.

Such a beautiful story.

It’s funny, in my household my father has always been the cook. Actually when my father was first getting married to my mother, my mom’s mom said to my dad, “Are you sure?? She doesn’t cook... don’t bring her back.” 😅

I also cook. It’s a good skill for a man and a woman to have.

No. I don't like the idea of marriage. I think I'm made for singleness if anything.

So, do you find yourself being created for marriage? Do you see traits in yourself that tend to a lasting covenant? Do you see areas that you want the Lord to work on?
A person will know if they are suited for marriage because they will be suited to Gods will. Marriage is naturally supposed to be an extension of spirituality. People who do not follow this unwritten law will be noneffective relationships.
