So, a good friend calls me yesterday. Tells me she has a blind date with a guy. She asks me to go with her because she does not want to go alone. I agree to go.

So I started thinking. Does anyone else take their friends on dates with them? :)

I wouldn't go, but we are meeting this man an hour and a half from where we live. So, I am pretty much going as the bodyguard in case her turns out to be a psycho.

Has anyone else done this....also...if anyone here is from Alabama is it legal to carry pepper spray? lol I ain'
t above spraying a psycho!

Oh, and if you have any good blind date stories.....share them!

I like group dates, it is interesting to see how people act with others around them.

I don't ask for a body guard though. I wouldn't go as a body guard. I would go as "wing man" type situation.

Hope you have fun. Dating, it shouldn't be this hard right?

Pepper spray is legal in all 50 states, but you can't take it on a plane or in most government buildings. Use it if you have to, but be careful to meet force with force or you can be charged with a criminal act in some places. *takes off ex-cop hat to answer other part of question haha*

I don't think I'd want to go on a blind date with anyone. If a friend/relative wants me to meet someone, I'd rather meet them in a group setting first. Seems like it would be far less awkward if it didn't work out.

I would, however, do the bodyguard thing if a friend insisted upon meeting a stranger, but I'd probably try to talk her out of it first. :) I'm not a very trusting soul in those situations. :)

I'm a fan of blind dates. I wouldn't exist without one some 60 years ago. Also glad grandma wasn't packing pepper spray.

A few years back I met this guy online, we talked for a few weeks and decided to meet in person. So I asked a male and female friend to go with me. It was alot more comfortable that way. My date understood, we went on a second date too with just my female friend but that was it. No more dates after that, no chemistry.

Ask her what she is gonna wear. Look nice, but you don't wanna look better than her.

Blind dates are a lot like spiders.

Yeah, he's kind of scary, maybe even a little hairy but, he is more afraid of you than you are of him.

What if the guy decides he likes you more then he likes your friend?

And I've been on a blind date. It went well. Just me and this girl at a restaurant, that was about....8 years ago i think.

I've been on blind dates and the women I met went alone, but that was before the world went crazy. :) It was before identity theft existed (except forging checks), before pepper spray was invented (there was just this thing called a kubotan), there were no cell phones and no terrorists. Mothers didn't kill their babies, teens didn't go on shooting rampages, etc.. etc..

This is why women wear heels. Great for killing spiders ;)

I wouldn't want someone to bring a body guard along on the date. Well at least that I know about. Maybe they could have the body guard sit 20 feet away. Just don't let me know you brought the body guard.
