So, I just watched a video on something that I really don't think about, probably cause I'm not a man. Anyway, it was talking about how men are quite frequently being asked to stop doing stuff that women would never be asked to stop, because of this fear that they might be pedophiles. Such as taking photos at child's pool, or sitting next to unaccompanied children on a flight. (Yep, policy of a particular airline.)

Men, what are somethings that you face that we women might not see?

And for those who want to see the video:
This News Report Looks At The Discriminations Against Men | SF Globe

Also, I'm including a poll for this.

What do we face? Continual reputation jeopardy for one. All it takes is one person who wants to cause trouble, making an accusation against you that you did something improper, and your reputation is down the toilet. You might be able to prove your innocence, but a lot of people will believe you are guilty regardless of proof of innocence.

I drive the church bus and I have to get a lady from church to ride with me for no apparent reason, other than to safeguard my reputation. Twice on Wednesday nights and four times on Sunday (one trip to pick them up and one trip to take them back home per service) she has to waste her time riding on the bus, just to serve as a witness that I didn't behave improperly toward any of the kids we pick up. I call her service "Indemnity Patrol."

But I hear that someday we will be in a place where there will be no troublemakers. Can't wait to get there.

Oh, and one other thing.... as a guy, you have to watch what you say. Someone is always listening for anything you say that can be twisted to seem like you're a chauvinist pig.

I'd think with how easy it is to fling accusations like these around, it would be a welcome safeguard guideline for men to foliow...

Such as taking photos at child's pool, or sitting next to unaccompanied children on a flight.
To me it's not discrimination, it's almost common sense.

So apparently it's okay for fathers to not be able to sit or be near their own children while at a public place? Is this what it's coming down to?

-sigh-

One of my hobbies is photography and I would love to photograph children because they just tend to make good photographs but I don't do it because I know how it might look to others.

In the video, it's mentioned that this male discrimination is discouraging young men from entering professions that involve them with young children, such as being schoolteachers. This is actually one of several factors that helped my fiance decide he no longer wants to be a public school teacher. He's currently doing his one year of student teaching, and now he desperately wants to quit, but for various reasons he needs to finish the program.

Most pedophiles are male
seems as of late, the females are catching up... lots of women going after the young teens it seems. it almost seems like every day some female teacher is getting it on with some 13-17 year old male.

I know what you mean, but I remember when I was that age there were some female teachers I would have gladly said yes to. I saw the latest case about the two young women teachers who had sex with the same male student and they got caught because he was actually bragging about it. To me that's different from someone who's forced into it, but yes it is still a crime.

Nope I'm a white male therefore I have privilege. No one bothers me about anything I do.

The idea is to be yourself and not let a 'false protocol" rule you. Infants & kids seem to like me or try to get my attention, and I do not deny them. The parent(s) look baffled but never upset about but somewhat appreciated of the kindness.

Example: I was working the front desk and there was mother and her two year old daughter who would pass by to wave or talk to me at times. The mother was very belligerent to her boyfriend and too often her daughter was caught in the warfare and would behave badly because of the confrontation.

One day the grandmother was with the duo and the two year old daughter struggled to get her mother to let her walk. The two year old walk to my door which was unlocked, entered, pushed a chair next to mine, climbed the chair, stood in it and placed her nose on mine, looking me in the eyes and smiled. The mother smiled and the grandmother asked the granddaughter "you like him, uh!" The granddaughter never moved an inch and nodded her approval. The only real peace that two year old ever had was around me.

Even as a male I had mothers asked me at 16 to babysit their daughters, and usually at the daughters' requests. They could ask for my younger sister who is just one year younger.

I just don't fall for this political correctness crap in regards to gender because we need to administer to love of Jesus to all.

[h=1]Mark 10:13-16New International Version (NIV)[/h][h=3]The Little Children and Jesus[/h][SUP]13 [/SUP]People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. [SUP]14 [/SUP]When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” [SUP]16 [/SUP]And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

I have been accused of being a paedophile on a number of occasions when I was out with my daughter. Going to park was hell for me I would play with daughter on swings etc for a time, then she just liked to run around and do her own thing while I sat on bench and watched. Lost count number of times other women have come up to me and asked why was I sitting there, one even went so far as asking if I enjoyed watching children and that I was sick pervert.

I even had someone call me a paedophile for just walking down the street with my daughter, they said I looked like a paedophile and could not imagine that I could be a father because I was too fat and ugly to be a parent, so what was I doing with a young girl in school uniform just outside the school?

So yes it goes on a lot , especially around where I live.

Unfortunately I've fallen into the category of having been discriminatory towards a male. I've been at play grounds with my kids and if I see a man standing around looking like he's not with a child, I wonder and watch a little. I've never approached anyone to ask what they're doing, but my mind wonders. I feel ashamed of myself when I see them with their child.

I'm not proud of myself for feeling like that and anytime I've done it I pray that God removes my immediate move to jump to this person might be a pedophile thought. I know men aren't the only one's who do that. I also know a couple of single Dad's and the Mom's aren't in the picture at all. They are wonderful parents and I'd hate to think of someone profiling them.

I was at the beach getting ready to leave....my youngest daughter was rinsing off in the shower...
a man parked in a spot next to the sidewalk......was doing unthinkable while watching.......
I ran over and kicked his car door and screamed at him......
I was appalled....then called the police....ever since then ......
I look at all men with suspicion.....sad to say.....its probably why im still single.....
I know in my heart that not all men are like that.....but im afraid if I take my eye off one....I might miss
something.....its rough being a single mom with girls.......

prob is, a lot of the 13-17 females will "go after it" as well. but again.. 14 year old boy having fun with 30 year old female everyone says oh lucky kid, or oh the lady made a mistake. however Guy can be 21 and getting it on with a 16 year old and the comments are cut his yaya off, kill him, ect ect.

Sad part is.. I have heard teens girls brag about "having fun" with their much much older guy.. So the comments people make about teen girls are pushed into it.. yeah about as much as a teen guy...
