Is anyone older than Justin Bieber writing decent love songs anymore? Am I getting THAT old?? (don’t you DARE answer that! ;) ) Am I just listening to the wrong stuff?

I like Adele, but her songs are pretty negative in the love department. :) Are there any non-country artists out there I might like? It seems like everything I see/hear that I like is country or 10 years old or more. :)

Stick to the 90s. From here on in, its only gonna get worse in my opinion. Try sticking your feet in 50s and 60s music as well, some of its not bad.. I like Frank Sinatra and Frankie Vallie and Nat King Cole

You reminded me of this Selena Gomez' song:

It's been said and done
Every beautiful thought's been already sung
And I guess right now, here's another one
So your melody will play on and on
With the best we own

I, I love you like a love song baby
I, I love you like a love song baby
I, I love you like a love song baby
And I keep it in re-pe-pe-peat
(Taken from Love You Like a Love Song, if that wasn't obvious...) :)

If that's not deep stuff I don't know what is :).

In a more serious note, I don't know...once in a while I find a decent love song that I like from a random band.

Ug has a point I agree with, not too uncommon, I might add, of late.

Love songs are steeped in another person, just listen to 'em :D

God's Love is entirely different, it's capital 'L' love.

But, green, that is capital 'L' love above the other 'L' isn't it?

Just a formality of the English language, my peeps.

Do not be deseived. :D

________
That said, though it's difficult I admit being a 43 year old guy and not married, listen to love songs of ALL genres, from Lady Antebellum to that short lady that sings country that wins grammys, not that I don't like 'short,' I am just saying that she is short and she is a SERIOUSLY good singer too, forget her name, don't listen enough I guess, and, sure, My Heart Will Go On, is seriously good, by Celine Dion, and, other songs, like Hall and Oates, get me going snooping for love, but my private eyes, OFTEN, end up thinking of the wrong places for it :(, and, then there is other stuff like the more modern love ;)

God bless you.

Depends on what you call a love song Jullianna! :D

Relient K Candlelight - YouTube

That's a love song. After listening to Katy Pery's Teenage Dream, I also found a cover by a band called Boyce avenue, that takes out the inappropriate parts about getting drunk and going to a hotel... replaced by "Let's just talk all through the night, there's no need to rush.".

My favorite love songs these days are also from the 90s, or Contemporary Christian ones. Their quality has gone down over the years. But there are gems here and there, covered in a bit of dust from the dirt people throw in.

Be_Evergreen. That's what I'm talking about.:D There are lots of songs about sex , but where are the love songs? :)
Karla: I hadn't heard that one, but it might be true! :)

CCBride: I'm a huge fan of everything from big band to country. Love the 50s and 60s. My favorites are the ballads from the 70s..R&B. :)

Ugly and Green: :p You guys seriously need to read Song of Solomon :)
Green: Loving a person doesn't mean we have less love for God. :) I think it's only when we learn from God how to truly love that we will know how to love a person the way we would want to be loved anyway :)

Old fashioned love songs and most likely old-fashioned love itself is becoming a thing of the past. I think the whole world needs a revival of old-fashioned values. Instead it is falling off of the cliff of secular thinking. Mainstream media portrays sex as a powerful drug and and the only place where you see romance anymore is in movies, and those movies are rare. In fact I can't remember the last romantic movie I've seen besides The Notebook, but I remember lots where the characters had sex.

I know, old-fashioned values are becoming more and more rare as the years pass by....now people have this idea that everything is permitted as long as it makes you happy so they get ideas from anyone and from anywhere...kind of sad and scary when you think about it :(

Tell me about it. Considering I'm around young people a lot (my 20 yr old nephew lives with me), I have no choice but to hear a lot of today's music. While there are some decent artists out today, half of the time I'm left wondering 'What in the world are these people thinking?' *lol*

And you're right, I haven't heard a decent mainstream pop / rock love song in ages either. Then again I try to avoid country music and Radio Disney as much as humanly possible. :D

I'm really going to show my age with this one but here's a love song that I'm trying to get nephew and his band to do an updated version of....

Julieannie,

There is a difference between love songs and Love songs, in your heart. Embrace, latch on, hold dear the latter and FLEE the other, unless....

God is using songs of POP sec culture in your life in some way .

But, green ???
How will I know?

Whitney Houston will flood your thoughts with her great love songs, like that one in 'The Guardian.' (* Green hears a collective sigh, ahhhh, from girls everywhere :D )

Not trying to disclude love songs from your life, because God's love and His songs are ....

more than enough. Nah, nah-nah. Nah, nah-nah. More than enough for you , and, me :)

And, julieannie, I hear you...
Yes, God wants us to love Him first and all others second, your wife, kids are second. Sorry, ladies. :(
Oh, and, this goes both ways, so, sorry guys :( But your Love to God MUST be over all else and every one else. His way, best beautifully outlined in His greatest book of all-time , the greatest Love story ever told :)

Hey, I listen to love songs, I just ALWAYS put God in them, otherwise you can get caught up in love for another instead of God. Just can. Sorry :). So throw away ALL those Aerosmith mp3s IF you're singing those songs with God not your angel . Thinking anything different and thinking YOU can control.your thought life while singing secular love songs and I have one last thing to say.....

Dream on.

Yep... there are tons of spanish love songs. There is a spanish radio station exclusively for love songs in my city. :D Oh yeah they're also from & before the 90's so I think you do have a point about there being a lack of 'Good' singers in that genre.

I appreciate romance too, have done it for many girls, as long as 'moms' of my growing-up 4 really good friends are included like when I dropped off flowers to them with a note in each telling them I appreciated them and that I was blessed to have them in my life :)

No, regarding romance, I am just saying, julieannie, to peg God in the center of 'it.'

For romance can be many things , and, without God in the middle, or, 'Malcolm' if you prefer :D , LOL, ok, just kidding,. have just God in the center of your universe , or, those many things will all be bad things, :( things tooo . Tooo bad, sooo sad. and everything else will emanate fully most beautifully out of that way. :)
