Well said, Seoul. Initially I was going to read the post and quietly move on and mind my business, but something you expounded upon really hit home and impressed me. Thiese statements you wrote; "Unfortunately, I also think the Christian culture has a way of exacerbating unrealistic expectations as well: "I'm a child of the King, and He wants ONLY THE BEST for me!!" Human as we are, we have a tendency to then translate this as, "Because I serve a perfect God who wants THE VERY BEST for me, He is going to send me someone PERFECT, just like Him." not only reasonates with me but several men in the church as well. Unfortunately, we are all products of our environments and with the proliferation of hot, steamy s_x, (disguised as romance), the perfect, rich man in the movies that will sweep a woman off her feet as you so eloquently stated combined with the notion of the perfect, Christian man it's no wonder many Christian women spend needless years looking for "the one." Years of rejecting the would-be suitor who doesn't meet all the unattainable check boxes under the guise of "chemistry" leaves one to wonder just who would. Subsequently, I've seen Christian women secretly grow angry and resentful because the one hasn't come along. This is not to turn the subject completely towards women, but I'm happy to read your candor and honesty about this subject from a woman's perspective because I fear that if a man shared what you did, there would be a different, hostile (attack)in opposition towards the man. Sadly, the secuarl world has infiltrated and often times influence Christian. My compliments to you for eloquently stating the truth.
