Ah, meat pies! What I would give to live in a place where meat pies are still customary.

Closest thing we have around here these days is casseroles. Which are nice, mind you... But they are not meat pies.
Move to Australia. They are mandatory.

Ok potlucks...love or hate them?

I dont really like them cos I am not a great cook/baker but it seems that people assume that everyone that is FEMALE should bring something home cooked while the men dont even have to.

Not every female has access to their own kitchen y'all or even has the time to prepare food. Plus, often the food is cold by the time you have it, eating cold food that isnt freshly cooked isnt ideal. Or too much baked goods, if everyone is bringing cakes, why do you need to add ANothER cake to the spread?

Then eating this hodge podge of dishes is strange because you are supoosed to pile a mixture of everything on to your plate, often not even at a table on your lap, and its all abit of a mess.

I can take or leave potlucks really I feel if someone is hosting they need to provide at least something substantial or the means to cook something or organise catering. The worst thing is your dish ends up being uneaten and you have to take it all home again. lol

Maybe people that are aspiring chefs love potlucks and then want to compete who can make the best dish but Im not that type of person. Then theres accusations from martyrs who are like 'what are YOU bringing to the table' well sometimes you got nothing ok? Your presence should be enough?

ok I take it back I like my family potlucks when I dont need to cook. Also, everyone always tells me I need to eat more anyway. Thankfully, there are quite a number of chefs and bakers in my family but it seemed I didnt really inherit the gene.

Also, one cousin was working on Christmas day (again!) at KFC. I really wouldnt have minded if he'd come over after work and bought a bucket.
