When dating, sometimes I will find and end up being friends with a very nice Christian guy. I'll talk to him for a while and all will seem good- but his response is never to like me in That way.

Well, I am in this position again in which a very nice guy was introduced to me, and we're just talking and getting to know one another on a friendly basis. I have a very good feeling about him, but I end up way too excited when I see a new message from him now. We write... well, novels back and forth to one another. Have a lot in common. Since we're still in the getting to know you process and might end up just friends, how can I keep from getting too darn excited? I know that the more over-excited I am at the prospect, the harder a let-down will become.

I've had to leave my hope for something I wanted in God's hands before. To be honest, it was a tough thing to give up. But I felt a lot better afterwards.
Pray something in accordance with Philippians 4:6-7. He will do a better job of guarding our hearts and minds than we ever could. And then pay attention to how much peace you have, about continuing the friendship/relationship. If that peace ever leaves, you know God's trying to tell you something. :)

Thank you so much, that gave me great comfort! I read it and prayed on it. I get really anxious in many social situations. I'll mark down that passage in my pocket-Bible.

Put your hope in Jesus Christ alone.
