I was talking to a guy friend of mine over the phone one day and he said..

"I don't like girls that wear too much playtex on their faces."
*me holding in laughter* "Darren, do you know what playtex is?"
"...Um.. make-up?"
"No, Darren. Playtex makes everything womanly except make-up"
*long pause*..................................."OOOOH!!" *giggle*

That said (which he'll never live it down), I don't care much for it either. I wore liner, shadow, mascara, and colored chapstick last night to a banquet, and that's as fancy as my face gets. On a normal day - concealer under eyes and regular chapstick. I'm a blistex addict. :D

Most of the time my hair is moussed wet and that's it. I'll straighten it on some days, but my straightener is getting too old and I can't find another one I'm happy with yet (even tried a chi and hated it). But I'll be getting my hair cut again soon where all I'll need is a round brush and a hair dryer (flips out in layers - some call it fairy-like).

Toes always painted. Nails.. long and natural.

LOL @ the playtex thing, Rissa :)

I was thinking about what Nuke said and I wanted to say that, as far as adjusting our "look" to what the person we are interested in likes, if a guy likes my hair a certain way (some like curly hair; some like straight, some like it up, etc...) or if there was a particular color or style of clothing that I wore that he particularly liked, I would not have a problem with doing that to make him feel special. If I tell a guy that I like something he's wearing, his cologne, etc and he wears it again just for me sometime, I kinda like it. :)

You know what this topic reminds me of? That little thing I said a few times on mic months ago - MEN ARE NATURALLY BETTER LOOKING THAN WOMEN. How many women invest in the billion-dollar cosmetics industry? OK, now how many men invest in it? The average girl owns a make-up kit. The average guy does not. How many women spend time in the mirror every single morning applying make-up? OK, now how many men?

I took a heck of a lot of flack when I said this on mic earlier this year and I would expect no less this time around. LOL :p

Agreed. And why would that be a bad thing? Cuz I already like my hair that way, and I already like that color on me, so wear it more because he likes it? Sure!

lol My only rebuttal to this comes from something my pastor said: Woman get her name because Adam looked at Eve and said.. "WHOA.. MAN!!"

I never said there didn't exist naturally beautiful women (Eve may have very well been one of them). However, the overwhelming majority of females need make-up to look decent whereas men do not. Just sayin' ;)

Ohhh so are you one of those who claim that some women need makeup to be beautiful? Ah. Now this is where you falter, my friend. Makeup does not make a beauty. God does. Some say makeup simply enhances the natural beauty in a woman, but even with this I disagree. My God does not make any mistakes, or do things halfheartedly. ;)

I think thats funny. I get what you are saying but I don't agree. I think the problem is a bigger societal issue that makes women think they have to look perfect and so we turn ourselves into canvases to create an artificial beauty that most people have come to prefer.

I attend a United Pentecostal Church and most women never wear makeup at all. When I say most I mean nearly all, probably above 90%. I think we get used to looking at women all dolled up and think when they are not like that they are not as beautiful. I also think if women were to stop wearing so much makeup they would appreciate their natural beauty and feel no need for it. Then men would also start to appreciate how beautiful we are without it and there would be less of an expectation for a designer look.

Indeed. I love my natural skin and eyes. Why cover pretty freckles up with orange paste?

I did read somewhere that guys' facial skin is generally in better condition because they don't clog their pores with makeup (as a rule haha) and shaving is an exfoliant.

I don't know about any of the other ladies, but I do think men get better looking as they get older.

Hmm... I think the thing that takes the most time for me is working out. I love it. I work out pretty much every day - usually with one day off - each week. It's not so much about other people noticing me as much as I just feel better about myself. We are our own worst critics, right? That said I'd say I spend 1-2hours with gym time each day (travel time of 10-20 minutes included).

I don't do much with my hair - I am blessed with hair that doesn't need to be washed but once every 3 days at the most. It's often less (crazy!) and it usually looks good when I wake up in the morning without much time... That's probably around 2 minutes MAX for that. When I do wash it, I spend about 15 minutes brushing it out and such.

For the face... I wash it in the morning and at night. I brush my teeths too!! (I meant to write "teeths" just in case anybody didn't know...) I'd say those things take about 10 minutes out of the whole day. For make-up. It depends on the mood I'm in... and the occasion. Some days I don't wear any and others I just put on foundation and mascara (because my eyelashes are long but they are blonde, so no one sees them). I'd give myself 5 minutes of make-up time. If it's a special occasion I'll put on another 10 minutes.

So... in the breakdown: 1-2 hours working out + 5ish minutes for make up + 10 minutes for cleansing the face + 2-15 minutes for hair + 20ish minutes for showering = 1-2 hours and 37ish minutes/day. In all honesty though, I'd say it's more around 2 hours a day. Just the working out takes the time. I'm a pro at waking up and being out of the door within 10 minutes for the day. Woops... But it's a skill :)

So basically since God doesn't mistakes and every single face is sculpted by Him, everyone is flawlessly beautiful then? If so, would it be unreasonable then to ask every single female on the planet to throw away their make-up kit?

I'm not saying that. I'm saying the makeup doesn't make a woman more beautiful and she doesn't need it to be beautiful, as your previous post seems to make you claim.

Right. Women don't 'need' make-up to look beautiful, so they can just toss it all away since they won't be investing in unnecessary cosmetics products. So we agree then?

LOL. OK, I'm gonna try it one last time. Your position is that ALL women are beautiful by nature because they are made by God and He doesn't make mistakes. So what I'm saying is, IF THAT'S TRUE, then all women should throw away all of their make-up products since apparently they have flawless faces.

I believe that. I wouldnt force anyone to but if they chose to that would be great.

But my question to you is, would you still think they were beautiful ,because you are the one that said men look better than women.

Actually, if all women did in fact discard all of their cosmetic stuff then it would just prove me even more right about men being naturally more attractive than women. Regardless of whether women NEED make-up to look good period or if a little bit helps to 'enhance' their beauty, it's still one step that men can and do skip every single day.

And thats the problem right there. You are saying guys look better than women when women dont have makeup on. That type of attitude is what makes women use the stuff in the first place. They feel they have too because some guy is saying they do not look good without it. Its a psychological thing.

Men dont wear makeup so we get used to them that way and think they look fine.
Many women do wear make up and when they dont we do not think they look as good because we are used to a different type of look. You see where I am going with this?

Women can skip this step too and look just as good to people who do not care for makeup on women. But for others who are used to seeing women in maeup, a woman is not going to look right if she doesnt have it on.

Its like a person that always wears a hat and then one day they dont have one on. You would notice. You might think they looked weird without it as if the hat was permanently afixed to their head. It would be hard to get used to seeing them like that and you may prefer them to put the hat back on. But the hat is not necessary. It may go well with their outfit or suit their face but there is no need for them to wear the hat. Will you decide that this person only looks good with a hat on? will you decide that all people with similar shaped heads need to wear a hat? or can you accept that they look fine without a hat. Or are you a hattist and think that everyone that doesnt wear a hat is lesser than those who do? okay the last one is a stretch.:D
