It's a change, especially in your case on the verge of being newly divorced. I find as a single mother there are times I'd like an adult with life experience to give me some input. However I have no man to worry that their ego might be torn down for some reason or another. (Sorry men...LOVE YOURSELF and don't make us boost your egos all the time...just saying...no fighting now! I gladly give kudos where deserved, however if you love yourself you wouldn't flip at things like who makes more money.)

I was never interested in competition. Never have been, never will be. It's just not one of my issues. What I am interested in is honesty in the midst of conflict. Too often, when people are hurting...they don't know any other way to deal with their personal pain than to hurt others....thus the old adage...hurting people hurt people.

I think so many people... are so terrible at taking care of themselves emotionally...that they look for another person to do it for them. That is a recipe for disaster.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Sadly the emotional side of so many people and the lack of knowing how to communicate properly in a technology driven world has caused more issues in relationships then I feel people realize. I saw/see my parents communicate when they hurt emotionally and why. They talk it through, pray about it and work to accomplish a soloution. Many people are to into themselves to know how to properly express and work through things.

People are too concerned with "winning". It's an unhealthy desire to save face in some weird twisted sort of way.

I've been to some relationship and God showed me that the best thing or person in your life is not being with someone u have chosen but the one whom he have chosen for you. This time i've realised that we should wait for the person that God is planning to be with u, not only in the better days but also In the darkest days of ur life.. God alone is more than enough for us, for now i prefered to be single until God give the right person in the right time and in the right place:)God bless everyone ..

I made the mistake of marrying too fast. I should have given it a minimum of a year. Thinking back on the last the 3 1/2 years I remember the first week after we were married...her kids sabatoged my food in the fridge. I remember how aweful it made me feel...and honestly, it got worse from there.

I cant stay the same about "enjoying being single" cause its ALL i have known.
Wisebeardman,

Single people have advantages or opportunities that some couples do not have.

Is single your preference?

Hope you don't mind me asking.

I'm interested to hear how that is so (genuinely interested).
It's the title of a teaching someone shared with me. I think it's a profound take on John 14, 15, 16. It generally talks about how people are miserable and experience grief and unhappiness because of so many reasons. But, that, if we put things in perspective, it always comes down to us not getting what we want in life, from people or from our circumstances. So, to deal with it, we deal with ourselves. If you want to check it out, it's here. I do find this subject really interesting and was tempted to start a thread in BDF to discuss this but the BDF police force, they scare the shizzle out of me. :)

Thanks! That's an interesting read. It's almost surreal how the central force behind so much of how we operate is born out of 'self.'

The Apostle Paul advised that it was easier to be single, suggesting that you wouldn’t have to be concerned with pleasing anyone but God. Knowing how Paul was gripped by the Lord and his heart motivated by the love of God, I’m sure Paul wasn’t saying that in a selfish way. I believe what Paul was suggesting was that if he were married, his wife would be subjected to the grief of watching her husband being continually persecuted, dragged to prison, beaten within an inch of his life, stoned and left for dead, constantly threatened with torture and death.

Paul was saying that it was easier to be persecuted for the Lord as a single man rather than put his wife in constant grief of worrying about his safety and welfare. To me, that sounds exactly like the love of Christ: giving up your own life so someone else doesn’t have to suffer. Paul didn't want to put a wife through that so he chose to remain single.

That certainly makes more sense to me rather than Paul saying he wasn't capable of loving a woman and God at the same time. Because Paul loved everyone, even his enemies. Remember how he ministered lovingly to the very guards who beat him? He showed them the mercies of God all the time and that's what opened their eyes to the Living Lord. :)

Its becomes a little tough around the holidays.
Christmas lights always seem a little brighter with someone by your side.

Its only tough being single...when you're awake.....and sleeping......on months that end with a vowel......and the months that don't......when you're eating.....when you're outside......when your inside.....and so on.

Other than that, its awesome being single.

That's right, but i've been singles for 4 years and things are less complicated, maybe we miss and we envy when we see a couple but trust me its better to envy others and be single that be in a complicated relationship, so i i decided i would want to be single again!there's nothing to be one! Though the people around you will just pressure you!us let's tell them to back off!!right?!?
