Well, this is the part where I play the party pooper.

When I first started reading this thread, admittedly, I was quite saddened by the attacks on Tintin being Australian. Although it was directed at him, I felt the sting of it. I know, even I joined in and made a joke about Australians and comically swung at myself. I guess I thought it would be easier to laugh instead of being Ms Pouty La-la.

Look, I'm not overly fond of Australia, although I am glad to be in a country that has many, many benefits and is seemingly safe. Having parents that were not born and raised in Australia, I never really felt 'Australian' despite myself being born here. I didn't think I had any kind of patriotic nerve in my body at all, but I can understand why an Australian CC user would stand up with the fists ready.

Again, I don't want to rain on your guys' parade, I'm sure many of you know I love a good joke and a good laugh, but this thread mildly stung me and as much as I wish it didn't, it just did. In no shape or form do I expect people to start apologising or anything, just have a think about it, guys.

Blessings.
Arlene, thank you for posting this. When I started the thread, I knew that Tintin loves this kind of nonsense and wouldn't be offended... but I didn't really consider that it might offend someone besides Tintin. I had intended for it to be so off-the-wall (like saying I don't like his hat... what? He isn't even wearing a hat) that nobody would mind or think we were serious.

In reality, I do know that Australia is a real place, and a very beautiful one at that. It's a place I would love to visit someday. I'm sorry that you and Breno or anyone else felt bad, and you're welcome to throw a cat at me if you'd like to.

Group hug, everyone. :D
That shouldn't be hard, considering we all live on your navel. :p

I'm patriotic but I love a good bit of silliness. I was very surprised by Arlene's response though. I thought silliness was her cup of tea. Anyway, back to trolling Tintin. Oh, wait...

I tried to find a way to fit some judgmental deer into this thread, but I couldn't fit them through my phone.

MissCris, Jesus talked about getting a camel through the eye of a needle, not judgmental deer through a phone line. What madness is this? The Message version? :p

Not really. :D I started reading through the thread the night before I intruded in the thread. I didn't know if I should take part or not but then someone mentioned that it would be less fun without me, so I decided to take part. But it was nighttime, I needed sleep. Then I had to go to work. The rest is history. But this thread is (for the most part) pure brilliance. I was chuckling like a madman (out loud and to myself) as I read everyone's posts. So creative, so much fun!

Is this like a cuddly type of thing, or is it more like...I dunno...a kenthomas type stuffed critter?

Oh, I'm not weird like Ken. It's just a small, plush echidna. I'll see if can take a photo of it to put here.

Yeah, honestly the idea of this thread and its intention is truly up my avenue, I first clicked on this thread with a gleam in my eye and crazy laughter ringing throughout the house, but yeah. Like I said, I can't quite explain why it made me a bit sad. And as I mentioned earlier, no apologies. I don't think it is needed.
