So, pretty much, a lot of things do not phase me unless I allow it. Horror movies - meh, funny movies - i let my self open to laugh, sad movies - meh. However, in some movies, say, WW2 movies. Every time, it gets to the point where it feels like all hope is gone, there is no escape and death is arriving, just then, back up arrives and save the day. That right there always hits me, no matter what movies, how many times, it always hits me. Like star trek first contact, while the borg cube is destroying everything, then they said "Sir another ship is warping in, its the enterprise!"

So yeah, is it just me ?

That is a plot device as old as time, "the cavalry arrives just in time to save the day!" It was used frequently in spaghetti western movies.

It never really affected me much. It seemed like a cheap way to have a happy ending, by summoning up more good guy forces out of nowhere.

Oh, about First Contact... that's the same movie where later Worf comments "They have assimilated more than half the ship!" Some rescue the Enterprise was.

navy3001 welcome to the forum, by the way. Sorry if I seem to be raining on your parade. I'm a bit dour when discussion turns to trite plot devices. Mention chocolate, music or computers and I'm MUCH more chipper. :sneaky:

If it were just you, they wouldn't keep making movies like that. That's not so much my thing as I'm more a sucker for the redemption / sacrifice storylines or fairytale heroes, but to each their own.

More like my prince hiding in frog skin. I'd love my own little corner of the world to co-run and make everyone do what I said.

But cyborg Cinder in the lunar chronicles retelling of cinderella is still one of my favorites.
