when JESUS told someone to repent of their sins, turn to yahweh to be saved, was HE attacking them ?

every servant /disciple/ messenger/ of yahweh (GOD) sent to deliver the GOOD NEWS was given the same MESSAGE to them "REPENT, the Kingdom of God is at hand"

they were NEVER TOLD "you're okay, keep on sinning and God will be nice to you". no. never. not even once.

since mormonism, jw's, buddhism, and rcc catholicism do not offer salvation in JESUS CHRIST,

it is bad form to expect or assume that anyone who admits to being catholic is saved. that is contradictory.
Out of all due respect, it is not our place to pass judgment on whether someone is saved or not. God is our ultimate judge. This young woman could very well be saved and be a Catholic. All a person has to do to accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior is to profess that God is Lord of their heart and accept him in all his crowned Glory. Her relationship with God is between just her and God. The one thing that we can learn from the Catholics is confessing our sins.

I apologize if I sounded a bit harsh, but this young woman is precious in the sight of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Thanks, but after I read what was posted here, I prayed about it and God led me in what I put down so all the credit needs to go to God. We also need to be loving each other as God loved us so much that he gave his only son to live a perfect life to be a sacrifice for our sins, so we can ultimately live in eternity with the one who created everything

It isn't that you are telling someone to repent from their sins, it is the manner in which you do it that comes off as attacking.

every servant /disciple/ messenger/ of yahweh (GOD) sent to deliver the GOOD NEWS was given the same MESSAGE to them "REPENT, the Kingdom of God is at hand"
It isn't the message that's the problem, its the delivery of it.

No one here has said that either.

No, it is not contradictory in the least. Some people have grown up in the catholic church and are also christian. I by no mean want to speak for any of the catholics in this forum, but there are cultural catholics who have grown up and enjoyed some of the traditions of the catholic church and find comfort in the church, yet still have accepted Christ as savior.

It saddens me that you are probably right about this, because what a great opportunity to have an open, honest discussion of people of different beliefs.
Aren't there numerous other threads already up for that discussion though? So it's not anything new or groundbreaking to have the subject broached. Bringing it here just means more BDFs visiting this section.

Sticky: Catholic Heresy (for the record)

Started by RoboOp, May 30th, 2012

>>"........So for the record, Catholicism is heresy. That's what the admins of this site believe.

Mary WAS A SINNER.

She needed a savior, just like you and me......."

with this and many other WORDS, GOD has shown the ekklesia that rcc catholic is heresy/ antichrist/ i.e. NOT GOOD.

it is not viable for life, nor compatible with BIBLE or with BIBLICAL christianity. worldly/carnal sure. not biblical.
Get a life and stop Christian bashing!

Bigot!

I by no means agree with his approach, but your response isn't any better. All your comment will do is worsen the issue.

ugly, i don't think the issue is about the threads, or whether one already exists.

or has been done before.

or its appropriateness for this forum.

or who might find the thread from the other forum and post here.

people can be productively engaged in a number of positive ways that seek information and share about faith. i have, in the past, taken to pm to ask and encourage others. also, the manner in which we productively engage them isn't limited to a thread entitled with keywords that are typically specific to catholics.

sometimes thread topics can easily bleed into the matters of faith and its differences as well. i don't think he meant discussion to necessarily mean, "let's start a new thread!".

at the end of the day, our primary concern should be engaging others with love and hospitality, showing the utmost concern for their spiritual condition while displaying an eagerness to walk alongside them in truth and love in whatever manner that presents, right?

sometimes i think we (as fallible humans) can too easily allow our preferences, irks and annoyances drive our attitude and priorities, rather than displaying a spirit of love and care that Christ called us to serve others with--myself included. : )

It annoys me that this nice person wants to meet others of her religion n because she identified she was catholic it opened her up to criticism..... she/he just wants to meet someone... cant the criticisms be left out just for once. Talk about throwing stones......

I'm not Catholic, anymore and I'm not going to pretend I know everything about Catholicism because I don't, but I can tell you my Father was Catholic and was saved did the sinner's prayer with a Priest before he died. But he knew Jesus and he knew God. My Step-Father is Catholic and is saved. You know this thread is now like one of those yucky I'm better than you threads in the Bible Discussion forum.

Oh yeah? Oh YEAH?! Well... my dad could beat up your dad. Or something.

Sorry MysteryReader. This is what I meant when I wished you luck. Some people here like to yell at people a lot.

You'll learn who the cool people are. And there's always the Ignore button. Hit Ignore on someone and you won't see any of his posts ever again! :D

For a long time I have been wondering why christians so willingly are attacking their brothers and sisters in Christ...if you be a Baptist, a Methodist, a First Presbyterian or a Catholic...aint Christ what you might should direct your attention at...not on how to best be bashing another believer?

further, this young woman was simply seeking some fellowship with others who share some of her faith beliefs.

while i am not personally catholic, i HAVE known catholics who were also christians, thus these are not always mutually exclusive. as hoss said, if you are genuinely concerned about her spiritual condition, perhaps you should make an earnest effort to learn more about her specific faith, as opposed to doing a "drive by" and making assumptions that are unwarranted.
Thank you.

Good to know. I'm just looking for some friends who share my faith. Thank you.
