Does anybody ever go to the mall these days. what is there for you to do there besides spend all your money.
I just wanna know.
Do you like them, or do you wish they had better shops, or other things there?
Do they do events or anything?

One church I know does a coffee group, but I never went as it was only retired people during a work day and they divided themselves off into men and women. One of the church members said when she went there it was just church ladies gossiping. lol
I thought maybe they would be reading the Bible or giving out free coffee or something.

Who needs malls any more? I go to a mall, I only find a close approximation of what I want. I go online, I find EXACTLY what I want.

I wanted a tiny wrench that could be used on many different sized nuts. I could go to the store and get what they have, if they have anything even close to what I want. But I just googled up EXACTLY what I want. It should be here in less than a week.

I don't usually stroll/spend a lot of time in the mall. I have a few favorite stores which I visit more frequently to shop the sales.

I think some malls are way too big which means if you park there you'll get lost in the carpark. Does any body really need that many shops?!

Depends on how you shop. Some people shop as a way to spend a lazy afternoon. Takes a lot of stores to fill that much time.

well the 'click and collect' is a bit of a joke, because, how can anybody find you in a huge mall carpark.
You cant just go to one shop, you have to wade through 20 others as well and supposed to spend your money at each, but what people actually have enough spare cash to do that.

I just find malls strange...they might have worked in the 80s, they definitely dont work now.

The parking lots are still useful. Nothing better as a teen than hanging out with your friends at the mall parking lot.

The other thing about malls is they often have the exact same bunch of shops at different ones.

Whoever owns these malls is raking it in...but I see very little return to the community from these mall owners. I think every once in a while. they do this thing where they give a tiny bit back when they have finished crippling their tenants with rent.

its not like they fund schools or hospitals or sports groups, and very few of them have charity shops/op shops on premises.

I never see teens hang out at a mall parking lot unless they like getting high off the petrol fumes.
Most teens dont really do this. Sniffing glue is more fun.

If people are homeless they mostly hang out under the bridge or in the streets not in the mall. Or at the library.

There doesnt seem to be anything to do at a mall if youve got no money. Look at stuff you cant afford mostly. I suppose that can take hours if you got nothing better to do.

I think the food courts are a bit random and tend to be the same in all malls. Its like going to a canteen but eating food thats made up like to go on an airplane with the plastic knives and forks. After a while this novelty wears off of choosing from ten different food outlets with zero service, especially at busy lunchtimes when you cant find a seat, have to queue and everyone leaves their dirty plates on the table.

they could be christian mall owners wanting to redeem themselves. I dont know.

why would you own a mall. Because you liked playing monopoly as a child and want to do it now you have grown up perhaps?

Malls around here are not really malls anymore. The covid farce worked very well. Everyone shopping from home. No, the days of the shopping mall are all but over like many dept. stores.

arent they kinda like barns that the rich man in the parable tried to store all his goods in, but even bigger ones?

I dont shop at home though. I have better things to do online than shop. lol

The biggest department store here, Famers, was originally a mail order company for farmers who couldnt get off their farms to go shopping. It was owned and run by Robert Laidlaw, who became a christian.

The Farmers chain branched out to many department stores, and now every single mall in NZ has a Farmers.
The original big store, in the centre of town (the flagship) had a free tram that would run to take shoppers to it and a playground on the top floor for the children to play in while the mums shopped. Also they sponsored the annual Christmas parade.

However that store in town is no longer there and moved premises. People wouldnt go across town to go there unless it was the only one in their area.

movie theatres, restaurants and some area with a goldfish pond as a " meet up" place as one now extinct mall described it. With all the big name stores closing or going to online sales there is no need for shopping malls.

The parking lot is still a great place for a teen to practice driving, or for a kid to practice rollerblading or stunt biking... not all of them at once though, or the teen might hit one of the kids.

Ive never really seen the mall as a place to 'meet up' but somewhere to do shopping that gets really crowded when theres sales.

Since every household has a tv at least I dont see much need for movie theatres, and you are only going to go to spend money at ONE good restaurant at a time not five bad ones at once.

Never seen a mall that had a goldfish pond...Ive seen ones that have little kiddy ride on rides that you put money in and it lights up and makes noise, or gives you a toy.
They also have those wishing wells that again, you have to put money in, or rather coins, and watch it take your money. Its not an atm machine.

I mean there are some areas in the mall that are kind of like a kiddy casino, they have slot machines to play games and win useless trinkets. I think I missed the thrill of losing my money in my childhood and couldnt see the appeal. I would have spent it on food or the latest comic.
