it really depends. massages CAN be an extremely intimate thing. i personally adore them, and will take them from just about anyone and give them to just about anyone. but i wasn't always like this. i used to be SOOOO reserved i didnt even want another girl touching me.
now i'm cool about it. altho when my ex boyfriend still wanted to massage me after we broke up, i felt tres awkward about it.
it totally depends.
but i have adapted and am now fine with it, as it really is good for the body and soul as long as one can keep ones heart and hormones in place.

i pay for a stranger to massage me once every year or so. i feel more comfortable when it's a man. not sure why tho.

I would not have a problem with massaging the neck/shoulders of a close, unmarried male friend, but anything more than that would seem a bit too intimate for my taste. A muscle spasm or sports injury is a different story. I would help with that too.

If someone isn't in a marriage, and isn't in a committed relationship cemented in stone toward a future marriage, then they need to hire their massages professionally done.
