but maybe that's because we're XNFPs??? ; p

I do not know about the infp part, but I had a dark period in my life where I had plenty to brood over. An intj can brood, if in a less emo way. I found suffering to be anything but romantic. It was a root of bitterness for me. It hardened my heart. If you are self-absorbed and caught up in your own problems, you won't have anything to offer anyone. I had to break away from negative people and bad circumstances. I also had to decide whether to be stuck in bitterness or cut my losses and move on. Oh, I used to work as an artist - I've done a lot of things. Now I do programming and such. I have a creative streak that drives me. The other day I was looking at a project I had done and I had a sense of peace and even joy in seeing it work properly. My most creative times have been when I was at peace, more or less content, and had few distractions. Suffering might sound romantic, but it will crush and imprison your soul.
