I would say that that is wrong about the failing if your kids are doing ''whatever''

King James Version (KJV)

Ephesians 6:4
4And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Men are supposed to raise their children in the ways of the Lord and make their best effort to guide the child in the right direction. This does not make them a failure when their child does not maintain on the straight and narrow.

My dad trained me in the way I should go and I rebelled against it for many years of my life, but now that I am older I have found my way back and will not depart from it; just as it says in the proverb.
