I have not been attracted to some and then later down the line developed an attraction to them. It can be their kindness, genuineness, even their ability to stay calm despite whatever is going on. It shows that the inside is important.

I always say if attraction is so important why do many people in the media who are considered highly attractive such as models, actors etc have spouses who cheat on them? Could it be that we have all been trained to think attractiveness is of the highest importance?
I normally never read any of the magazines that are displayed near the check out lines in supermarkets, but there is one issue that comes out periodically which I will take a look at. That is the issue when they show photographs of "stars" without their makeup.

Some of these people have totally fake faces that are basically created by makeup artists. Take off their makeup, and most people wouldn't be the least bit attracted to them outwardly.

Anyhow, as I've said before, give me a "plain Jane" with a personality, and I'm good. Actually, I've reached the point where I don't even need/desire the "plain Jane" anymore. Tarzan is swinging alone, and he's perfectly content.

Esther did win, and she won big.
Not the beauty contest I was thinking of.
Esther is a stand alone story.

The one I was thinking of was supposed to be another wife for David. But David didn't want her. Instead his usurping son asked for her to be his wife and Solomon had to kill him.

True, very attractive people, such as actors and models, have spouses who cheat on them and leave them. Part of that is they know they are partly in a rat race for publicity and getting favors... like hollywood show marriages for publicity or a model marrying a big movie producer... sometimes those are marriages of convenience, that situation can change fast. And I would suspect attractive, rich and powerful people tend to think there will always be lots of green grass fields for them, so they are willing to put someone else first 50-100% of the time. The wiser know you have to be a good person to keep a good person.

I don't think anyone was trained to think attractiveness is of the highest importance, especially people who grew up in the church and with good families. Rather I think most people think physical attraction is not the most important, just an essential element for a mate.

Most people don't select their friends based on physical attractiveness. I think most want their spouse to be their best friend, but they know a spouse is not the same thing as a friend... lots of friends can't be your spouse. Isn't this the essence of the issue?

A Proverb warns about the vanity of beauty as well as the deceitfulness of charm, but not the functionality of physical attractiveness. Proverbs 31:30 ESV: Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 5:19 ESV: A lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.
I think we are trained to think attractiveness is of high importance otherwise you would not have people starving themselves to death to stay slim. Or getting injected with botox to remain young. Or going under the knife to have things lifted, enlarged, reduced or altered. People in their twenties would not be getting injections as prevention from the ageing process and so on and so on.

1Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1Pe 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1Pe 3:5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
1Pe 3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

We don't know exactly what happened to her. She may have been included in Solomon's harem which seems the most likely outcome. She was a king's woman even if she started out functioning as more of a human hot water bottle and if Adonijah wanting to marry her was a play for the throne that got him executed you can't really imagine that she would be allowed to marry anyone except the king. So she probably lived out her days as one of Solomon's hundreds of concubines.... not great but there are worse fates.

Magnets on the other hand, have invisible powers. A chick magnet might be a certain type of car big enough to fit chicks in. Chicks like free rides.

I try to tell my brothers this but they dont listen. If they want to attract girls they need to offer them rides in their cars but they dont. However Ive seen the way they drive, one of them has awful tailgating habits that I dont think would be safe, so maybe its just as well.

sp? Personally I dont think it would be fun to be a concubine having to be at one mans beck and call all the time. I mean honestly. Does anyone think thats a great life? If the guy said you had to wipe his bum or kiss his feet then youd have no choice but to do it. Even if it was smelly...

perfume people...

at school the teachers have to discreetly tell the boys to consider wearing deodorant.
Though wearing too much body spray is also off putting. You probably dont want to smell someone before you see them

That's actually a difficult one to find. It sounds really interesting. Can you note the chapter/verse? Thank you in advance!

READ the scriptures carefully and slowly. Diagram the sentences if need be. Underline the verbs and nouns if you don't know how to diagram sentences.
It was written very minimally....fewest words possible.

Think about what all would have been going on in the minds of everyone involved. Soak in the action written and "of course" stuff that wasn't written.

Then answer your own question.

Yeah... he was one of David's sons, and he decided "Well, dad's on his way out, my turn to rule!" Only it wasn't. Solomon was the appointed heir. Anyway, he begged to have his life spared, got his wish, then came and asked for this little hottie who was assigned to keep David's aging body warm (no sexual contact was made).

This response was wholeheartedly uncalled for. Since you are without grace or humility, I'll be sure to avoid making the mistake of asking you to explain something in the future.

No....
I want you to know the scriptures. Soak them in. Keep them in your heart at all times. Most every story written in them has answers for some of today's issues. I ALWAYS point people to the scriptures.

Sure, I can tell you what they say and mean....but it's not really helpful for anyone. It actually hurts people when that happens. That's why I say things the way I do. I want you to know what you know and why you know it. Nobody can take away what you know.

I will give the general information and guide....but I really do want you to feed yourself and not rely on the multitude of wackanoodle "teachers" explaining the scriptures. It's straightforward stuff usually...sometimes it's difficult but not usually.

So discussion and teaching are passé. Got it.

No....not at all.
But you are an adult who knows how to use Google and read and self learn things that are important to you.

I can be a resource for Guidance. I'm not a teacher nor have I ever been. I kinda suck as a trainer too. My wife? Awesome teacher. She's the one that rocks at it.
I just point you in the right direction and believe that you are capable and able. You are a guy....if you don't already have one...one day you will have a household to patriarch. Single Christian men are practically unicorns in number....a myth that doesn't really exist. And I'm sure that one day a young lass will keep that true. And you are going to be tasked with spiritual leadership.
And that doesn't have anything to do with urinating from the standing position or wearing boxers inside out because the seams chaffe. It means taking the responsibility of the direction your family goes and why.

Sooo... we can't exchange thoughts on scripture, or explain our beliefs about it.

I just think this is erroneous thinking. It seems you were not attempting to be patronizing, as your earlier post "sounded". But, I do know for a fact that we Christians must discuss the Scriptures, and that means exploring ideas and opinions about their meaning, not saying I think this or that and not explain why. You're not leading me down a path to spiritual ruin, unless your explanations are heretical and I'm stupid enough to follow them.

Anyway, I'll drop this now. I just think you're wrong not to explain your thoughts, but you don't seem to believe that you have the right or the ability. Okay. Clarity before agreement.

Gotta run. Got a Saturday to get to. A new device came in the mail and it will help me set up a new-ish MacBook Pro I recently bought.
