so I put myself on the other side of this table...looking at the view of those it offends or have a problem with it ...
and the question I'm asking myself while sitting there is ....first... Is it true? checking with God "first", before my thoughts or opinions get in the way .
Being lead to Gods original plan .., Adam and eve ... Both naked and both created (by design/art) in "His" image ... So I'm choosing to believe God ...
Second thing I'm asking myself " what am I doing in this room to start with if I can't handle it ?

I'd like to just say..The old man in me a few years ago, would have put a thread
Like this in my mouth on Monday , chewed on it until friday, and then spit it out without ever taking a second look .. ... that's the kind of healing God has done in
Me..So please know, I am not at all judging ..

I was offended , because I didn't allow God to work some things out ( and there were some deep ugly roots for me there) what I learned was .. Being offended by it is actually a good thing .. What it says to me now is: I'm Hurt or mad because of a disconnect in my relationship with God ..it's usually because I'm hurting somewhere or hiding .the result of that is . Tending to a wound or hiding .. My focus was
Stolen and I could not see the beauty of Him.. Nor share it

I don't really care for it but I think you can have artistic nudity without it being sexual. The problem is many artists just want to shock and reduce it to juvenile, base lusts - haha! boobies! :( That's just stupid and objectifying people.

Exodus 20:26 And do not go up to my altar on steps, or your private parts may be exposed.

True, God had a plan for us. But we're not Adam and Eve in a perfect creation any more. Yes, the body is interesting if not beautiful. If we display the work of God - the human body - do we diminish the intricacies of the human muscular structure or the glory God endowed it with if we cover its private parts?

I guess this covers the silhouette question, too. With silhouettes you can't see private parts, depending on the angle it's depicted in.

I'm getting a picture of a body beating itself over the head ..
And the head cursing the body ..
I think I might begin trying to paint these images out .. This one isn't very appealing at all.. It has several nude bodies in it
I think people would run from this painting instead of too it..

IF you want to wrest out of context, the scripture regarding the approaching the alter for temple ceremony to determine your position on the subject... go ahead. However, expect to have someone call you on it... like I am now. THis use of scripture absolutely DOES NOT stand as sound teaching... AT ALL! :(

I have to ask God first .. what's comming immediately is that He sees no sin in us.. Sin does not exist in Him. I'll take Hos word on it .. So no man can boast

DON'T GET ME STARTED! Ah... Nuuuuuuuu! Too late... here it goes.

I studied art for four years in University and currently work in an art gallery so I can give you the perspective of nudity as a subject within the art community without trying to make it long winded.

If we are talking classical nudes, such as anything that sprung out of the renaissance and onward, then there are still advisories if young children are going to be seeing an exhibition. Although tame by today's standards, nudity is still a mature subject in classic paintings. Most adults aren't fazed by them... unless they were severely sheltered. I suppose there are some that may be turned on by the Birth of Venus... and considering how with some men it doesn't take much visual stimuli for them to be aroused so I wouldn't put it past them.

Contemporary nudes are different and are often pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable to show in a piece of art. Often it becomes vulgar and perverse. The stuff that was produced at the school of art would shock you, because it certainly did me! Students did all that they could to shock, from using full on pornographic photographs as a comment on how text doesn't matter in advertising, to little clay figurines having sex, to paintings of women and men masturbating. These works were presented at the end of the year for an open house where families with young children came in to see art. While there were advisories that doesn't exactly stop people from bringing their kids. There was a lot of nasty stuff that made me question the ethics of art. To say the least I got a pretty low brow impression from most of the work I saw those four years.

So if you're talking classical nudes, like the Birth of Venus, of contemporary nudes like what I just explained, then there is a huge difference on how to handle nudity in art.

Again going to Him first , Gods plan never changed ,it has always been, is , and will forever be His original plan for us . what needed to be done has been done , it is finished ..At "any time" we can return to this perfect image in Him..unfirtunately man in His corrupt image towards God, has refused .

What do you think about the Scripture I listed? For instance, why does it prohibit building steps to an altar?
