Dude I was eating a peanut M&M (yes, for breakfast before work, don't judge me!)
and I nearly choked to death I laffed my buns off to that comment....oh man,I swear yer' humor will be the death of me my friend. lol

It was one of those things that just felt like the right thing to say...

Speaking of princesses (and passive aggressive nice guys - if recent events on the forum are any indication)

You know, man, as...appropriate...as that might be for Red, since we know her, and know why someone would call her that...if I were her man, I could NEVER call her that pet-name in public, because anyone else who didn't know us would probably misunderstand, and think that I was using a pet-name that was degrading.

I realize that it probably doesn't speak too well of me that THAT'S where my mind went first, and my immediate reaction was, "Oh no. No no no no no." But then again, I do work with middle schoolers. >_<

My mind went there too.

I dunno if I've ever been called any "pet" names, but 2 "nicknames" I really hate are the following, and I'll explain why with each.

#1. "Jose"...ok,firstly I am not Spanish (that I know of) Since I was at least 6 or 7 yrs old I have had teachers,bosses,co-workers..you name it,ask me if I were related to Jose Feliciano, due to my last name.

To set the record straight in case any CCer's may ask...NO I AM NOT in any shape way or form related to him or am of any sort of Hispanic or Latin decent. I am tired of telemarketers calling me and speaking in Spanish,as well as getting advertisements in the mail in Spanish.

#2. "Big" Jim! This is the equivalent of calling me FAT every time you see me. I can't tell you how many times I have met someone & either within the first few minutes or the next time upon seeing me,they say:"How ya' doin' big guy or big Jim?"

One time I said to a guy at work who happened to be quite balding with a cheesy comb-over...who called me "big Jim" like 20 times in 15 mins during a lunch break with a ton of fellow co-workers present...
I explained to him what I just said to you about it's like announcing that I am fat,and I said..."How would you feel if I start referring to you as BALD MARK every time I see you?? Other people cracked up...he just looked at me perplexed & then irritated. I said..."Yeah,that's not yer' name is it?" LOL

so ummm anyhooooooo

I don't mind pet names,if they are accurate or endearing.

Since my husband have had kids, this is what I mostly hear, "where is your mother?" "honey, where is your Mother?"

So my pet names are honey and where is your Mother.

I tend to call the man in my life "Baby" or "Darlin".

I think the pet name that I liked the most was "angel".

I have occasionally been called Lumpy, but usually I'm just Chris.

Lumpy because well, I'm accident prone. But it's okay, because I'm also good at fixing things!

When I was little and my mother wasn't so mentally ill, she would call me Tooki Bird. I have no idea where she got it. My Dad would call my sister and I guerrillas (girl-illas). I miss him so much, as well as her.

I don't mind them, but I prefer them to be personal and not too cheesy. No ''boo boos'' or ''sweetie pies''' for me, thank you.

I had a friend semi-freak out over calling me "Rach". We were on the phone, and she said, "Alright, I'll be there soon Rach. OH MY GOODNESS I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to call you that." I was really confused, I just said, "Uh...that's fine, you can call me that, ha." She said she wasn't sure because she knows some people who don't like being called things other than their name.

I get called Rach all the time. I like it. I cannot stand "Ray Ray" though.

I think if you have known me a long time, and it's a deep friendship, that is fine. True Story = One time I had some random guy I barely knew on CC, pm me and call me a shortened version of my God given name, which I thought was totally inappropriate, and disrespectful. When I corrected him he got angry and told me I had issues with men. Hence, the wrong pet name by the opposite gender, is most likely someone who will not respect boundaries! Oh yeah, if you are not willing to accept a person's God given name, especially when corrected - CREEPER ALERT!!!!!

I don't care about ugly... but my real name, no. I don't really find jokes about it funny either. I've yet to understand why people would think its funny to joke about something i say i don't like.

I hate pet names before. I remember my childhood friend always called me 'my fair maiden' when we were kids. I don't know what fair maiden means that time, so I get annoyed.. thought he was making fun of me.

Now everyone calls me my name so I'm gonna be biased. ;)
