See, now I wish I would've known enough to chase down that one recipe as this makes
me wonder if I encountered some supernatural phenomenon in my first sampling of
fruitcake. I seem to vaguely remember trying another and wondering what was different.
It was something different enough that I've haven't ventured to try any more, but maybe
that's just because I've never happened upon any since. Hmm, that just might be my gifting
theme this year. Lol, I'll be curious to see each person's reaction in receiving it!
Perhaps it was the Rémy Martin and Captain Morgans .;):giggle:

Something recently occurred to me. I'm not sure if it's true and I have no idea what it means if it is true, but I can't remember anything that contradicts it.

I have seen a lot of places in the Bible where men are warned to avoid women who will bring them trouble. I can't remember anywhere in the Bible where women are warned to avoid men who bring trouble.

Any help here?

Not necessarily. Sometimes life just really stinks. Sometimes bad things randomly happen to good people because we live in a world that has bad in it.
If you believe Romans 8:28 bad things are actually good things yet to be revealed.

That's true... speaks to Job's story... Too often, many of us can relate to Job... as an inspiration to...
Well darn... now that I think about it... he had to be pretty tough after all to persevere thru sooo much... Talk about toughest battles and the best example for perseverance to inspire us to keep our faith regardless...

That has an important conditional that needs to be mentioned. All things don't work together for my specific good.

This is important to mention because some people only focus on themselves and get disappointed when things don't work for their specific good. That verse gets a lot easier to understand if you maintain a global instead of a personal mindset, looking for what is good for the group of people you are in instead of what is good for you personally.

It's also pretty hard to explain that verse in my town where multiple tornadoes ripped through late last week. A few people were killed and more lost everything they had. Sermons built around that verse are not exactly popular in this region at the moment. But you are welcome to come down here and try.

And even then, only when she is in the city. When she is out in the country, her only consolation is that it is not her fault.

Job's trials were deliberate and created a desired end...Job 42:...I has heard of Thee with the hearing of mine ear; but now my eye seeth Thee.

I don't remember where I saw it, but somebody posted a fictional conversation between a human and God:

HUMAN: If you made the Earth and you are only good, why is there so much bad in the world?

GOD: I think that has something to do with the whole free will thing.

Yeah, then if the guy is caught, he has to pay her dad and is married off to her if daddy agrees.

Unless she was betrothed. Then he gets stoned to death.

If you want to live as though scripture isn't true go right ahead. But these things happened to people and God will use them for their good.
To give such a sermon at this time would be insensitive. There is a time to mourn and cry. And we should grieve and weep with those who do so. That doesn't change truth.

Yes but she must not complain. She has to keep in mind, this is all going to turn out for good somehow.

If life doesn't just sometimes stink, we wouldn't have any reason to want to go to Heaven.

If life doesn't just sometimes stink, why would we have wanted to keep sin out in the first place? When we get to Heaven, what motivation would we have for keeping sin out of there too? If we let it in and broke Heaven the way we broke this world, oh well... Everything works together for good anyway.

Sometimes life just stinks. It's because sin broke the world. That's life.

The free will of men doesn't limit God in any way...He doeth His will in the armies of heaven and amongst the inhabitants of the earth; and none shall stay His hand...Daniel 4:35.

I do agree evil exists because of sin. But sin won't exist in heaven because it isn't possible. We can't resist all sin here. And if we existed there as we exist here, we would sin.

Somehow I feel like this is a weird role reversal.

I do not consider myself to have endured anything really bad, but I have observed really bad things happening to people I know so I am aware that sometimes life just stinks.

The odds are pretty good that you have endured some things you consider really bad, but you argue that there is no time when bad just happens for no reason and life just stinks.

It's like looking at what I thought would be a painting and finding a mirror of what I would be if I were not me...
